Dolidze vs. Hernandez Prediction
Roman Dolidze🇬🇪 (15-3) is primarily a grappler but on the feet utilizes his footwork, range control, and timing stemming from his kickboxing base to land powerful combinations that include counters, jabs, straight punches, overhands, hooks, crosses, head kicks, body kicks, step in knees, and leg kicks in order to hurt or slow opponents and make them open for the clinch where he stiff knees to the head and body. I like how he uses footwork to position himself for takedowns at the end of strikes but he can also rely on it to avoids strikes and that has resulted in him being out volumed in his career even by lesser strikers than himself. Outside of the clinch Roman can get it to the ground by closing distance and using his striking to bait reactions where he will then chain together single and double leg takedowns. On the mat he secures full mount or half guard then uses heavy ground & pound to finish the fight or open up his heel hook and rear naked submissions. Defensively he has great sweeps but lacks notable takedown defense, scrambles, or an overall bottom game which will be an issue in this matchup. Anthony Hernandez🇺🇸 (14-2) forces opponents to fight from his range by pressing forward and using his great cardio to relentlessly throw high volume combinations that include jabs, straight punches (specifically the 1-2 combo), overhands, hooks, shots to the body, kicks to the body, and leg kicks. This is all done by him to slow fighters down and lower their guard. He overall has solid striking defense but has shown that early he is suseptible to being hit, and if he isn't able to get or keep opponents down, he can be out struck. Fluffy reactively and relentlessly shoots for and chains together takedown attempts in volume with a combination of single legs, double legs, body locks, and trips. When I said relentlessly, I meant it. His mat returns are just as smothering. On the ground he tires fighters out by maintaining back control, full mount, or half guard then uses his ground & pound to finish the fight or open up his armbar, gulliotine, anaconda, arm triangle, and rear naked submissions. Fluffy has good scrambles, but similar to his striking defense, his takedown defense is weak in certain areas of his fights. It's more athleticism based with him using his hips to defend and when down staying active off his back and trying to reverse positions or escape. I should also mention that sometimes, when he scrambles, he leaves himself open for submissions. My pick is Hernandez (DEC).
