UFC 300 Predictions
UFC 300 Predictions
By Bakero
The biggest event in fighting history is upon us… These are my picks for UFC 300 based on betting odds, verdict values, my opinion, instinct and a little bit of bias. Let’s breakdown and analize every fight in detail. Early Prelims: 🇧🇷 Deiveson Figueiredo vs Cody Garbrandt 🇺🇸 What a way to open biggest card in UFC history. Two former champions clash in bantamweight banger, but it’s not like it looks on paper, not close at all. Cody is more technical and polished striker but his chin let him down so many times, on the other side of octagon will stand a dangerous brazilian who has great jiu jitsu and powerful punches. “God of war” had successful bantamweight debut against tough opponent in Rob Font and he will test Cody’s suspect chin. I just don’t see this fight going to the ground, Cody could pull upset in technical 3 round point match, but if it gets scrappy he will probably go to shadow realm. Pick: Figueiredo KO/TKO round 1 🇺🇸 Bobby Green vs Jim Miller 🇺🇸 Absolutely amazing veteran scrap is second fight of the card. Bobby got brutally knocked out last December by Jalin Turner but his style is very complex with crisp boxing and great defense, underrated ground game too. Jim Miller is a fucking legend who fought on UFC 100 and 200, now on 300, he is always dangerous with punch power and aggressive submission game but this matchup doesn’t favor his fight style. Bobby has clear sped advantage and I see him cruising to a 30-27 decision victory although I would love to see Jim Miller dub in a potential retirement fight. Pick: Green decision 🇧🇷 Jéssica Andrade vs Marina Rodriguez 🇧🇷 This fight will either be a 3 round all time classic or a complete technical chess match. Hope it’s going to be a war with a finish but I don’t think so. Jéssica got finished by Blanchfield and Yan but bounced back with tko over Dern, she is little bit out of prime but still has really good dirty boxing clinch and powerful takedowns. Marina on the other hand is more technical striker but she can finish fight in a blitz as well. Two violent women indeed but I just see Marina picking Andrade apart for 3 rounds with couple of solid moments from Andrade but ultimately it won’t be enough. Pick: Rodriguez decision 🇺🇸 Jalin Turner vs Renato Moicano 🇧🇷 I personally love Money Moicano but this is arguably the hardest fight for him style wise. Jalin is 6’3 monster with huge reach advantage and knockout power with submission threat. Moicano’s key to victory is to go out and spam takedowns in hope to keep Turner down and maybe try to find submission, but it’s easier said than done. This fight won’t need judges opinion as both fighters are known as finishers, “Tarantula” having 100% finish rate. I think it’s gonna be Jalin’s highlight moment in which he most likely knocks out Moicano but this pick just doesn’t give good value especially on verdict, so I’m going for Turner hurting Moicano early and when Renato shoots for takedown, Jalin wraps up guillotine or d’arce choke. Pick: Turner submission round 1 Prelims: 🇳🇬 Sodiq Yusuff vs Diego Lopes 🇧🇷 What a banger this fight is. Easily fight night main event material and huge test for UFC’s newest potential superstar and fan favourite Diego Lopes. This fight goes two ways, either a decision win for Sodiq who is very durable and technically sound figher or an absolutely crazy finish by Lopes. Both outcomes seem pretty realistic but I’m slightly leaning in favor of Diego who will launch himself into rankings of shark infested featherweight division. His takedown ability is questionable but if Sodiq takes him down it’s basically a gift, i don’t see that happening as I assume Yusuff is a smart fighter. I predict late tko for Lopes after very competitive first two rounds because he is so unorthodox and can find a finish anywhere, just see what he did to Sabatini and almost finished seemingly untouchable Movsar Evloev. Pick: Lopes tko round 3 🇺🇸 Holly Holm vs Kayla Harrison 🇺🇸 Look we all love Holly but this fight is a straight missmatch. Yes she is tough matchup for every wrestling dominant fighter with her kicks and clinch, but Kayla is a olympic gold medalist in judo and has been nothing short of dominant in PFL losing just once. Holm is over 40 years old and has experience advantage but every physical aspect goes to Kayla who is basically as muscular as male fighters and lightweight. If Kayla doesn’t die on scales I see her dominating Holly with her grappling to a decision or maybe submission win which is going to be my bet because of better value. Pick: Harrison submission round 2 🇺🇸 Calvin Kattar vs Aljamain Sterling 🇯🇲 Classic striker vs grappler matchup and personally for me toughest fight to predict on entire card. Aljamain is going up a weight class after losing his belt to O’Malley but he was massive bantamweight anyway so this weightclass is gonna suit him pretty well. Wishing him welcome to featherweight is Calvin Kattar who has outstanding takedown defence which could cause hell for Aljamain because on the feet Kattar will piece him up and hurt him badly. Aljo is a world class wrestler who did outwrestle certain Henry Cejudo so he will probably take Calvin down, it just comes down to his capabilities to keep him down or find submission, if he fails to do so Calvin wins 10/10 times by tko or decision. This fight is 50/50 but if i had to pick a winner it would be Aljo by decision. Pick: Sterling decision 🇨🇿 Jiři Prochazka vs Aleksandar Rakić 🇷🇸 Czech samurai vs Serbian rocket. This fight is to determine who is king of Europe and should be on main card undoubtedly. Let’s get it clear I’m rooting for my boy Rakić but I absolutely admire Jiri’s unorthodox fighting style and his unbrekable mindset which I love. Let my bias aside Rakić is super underrated and is one of best fighters in light heavyweight but across him is former champion who will be super aggressive and will bring fight to more technical Rakić. I believe that Jiri, a complete madman that he is returned to octagon too soon because he was knocked out by Alex Pereira in november, Rakić is facing 2 year layoff but he looks to be in amazing shape and is absolute force of nature. If he figures out Jiri’s unpredictable striking early, implements his wrestling while mixing up with kicks I see Rakić winning comfortably by points or getting a spectacular ko, while Jiri could find Rakić’s chin I think that Rakić’s Fight IQ and physicality will prevail as he wins a decision. Pick: Rakić decision Main card: 🇺🇸 Bo Nickal vs Cody Brundage 🇺🇸 Bo Nickal is UFC’s next big thing and it’s shown clearly as this fight doesn’t deserve main card spot on event this big. Not much to break down here as Bo Nickal opens up as biggest favourite in history of company. His wrestling supermacy will prove to be too much yet again as I see another outstanding first round finish by all american. Cody Brundage is just another sacrificial lamb for Bo. Pick: Nickal submission round 1 🇧🇷 Charles Oliveira vs Arman Tsarukyan 🇦🇲 DO BRONX IS BACK. My mental health depends on outcome of this fight. Charles Oliveira is my favourite fighter as he’s proven that everything is possible made huge career comeback and has biggest aura in sport. Arman is dangerous hungry contender, young lion with crafty wrestling and solid stand up game as well, physical advantage is on his side also. But you can never count Charles out, I pray to God he finishes Arman and if I had to bet how the fight ends I would say Oliveira knocks Arman out or finds submission as he is the best submission artist in history of UFC. Arman could win this with his power and drowning wrestling but I think he will get chinned by Do Bronx early on and finished either by tko or sub. I hate how Charles is underdog by oddsmakers at like +200 but a favourite on verdict making our picks on him bring lot less xp than it should. Anyway champ has a name and his name is Charles Oliveira. Pick: Oliveira tko or submission round 1 🇺🇸 Justin Gaethje vs Max Holloway 🇺🇸 War, onslaught, bloodbath, massacre, violence and test of willpower will determine who is the BMF of the fight game. Fight of the year in the making will bring fireworks in the octagon as baddest mf-er Justin Gaethje faces former featherweight champ Max “Blessed” Holloway. This fight is what fighting is all about, two modern day gladiators going for each other’s head and battling it out until one collapses. This fight will be as good as advertised and these two gentlemen will take some braincells from each other. Ultimately I pick Justin to win and be first guy to knockdown Max but not to knock him out completely, doctor will have to intervene as I see Justin implying too much damage to Max to continue in later rounds. Max will make it super close and competitive but in the end Gaethje’s power will stop Max who will protest stoppage no doubt wanting to fight till death but that’s not possible. His legendary chin won’t snap but will be tested by hardest hitting lightweight and human highlight will set himself up for Islam Makachev fight. I feel bad for everyone who misses this fight. Pick: Gaethje tko (doctor stoppage) round 5 🇨🇳 Weili Zhang vs Yan Xiaonan 🇨🇳 Our Co-main event of UFC 300 will be first ever chinese title fight in which always entertaining Weili defends her belt against exciting prospect in Yan who will make this fight competitive despite betting lines in favor of Zhang. I see this fight going all five rounds but one way I could see potential stoppage, and that is on the ground where Weili will have significant advantage, unlike on the feet where I feel they will just cancel each other out. Weili is a complete fighter and true champion so I believe she will find a path to victory the smartest way and that is by implementing wrestling skills and submission threat. At the end of the fight I think Bruce Buffer will be screaming #AndStill. Pick: Zhang decision 🇧🇷 Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill 🇺🇸 That’s it. UFC 300 main event. Title on the line. Poatan will look to secure his first title defence against former champ who never really lost his belt. Hill is a really good boxer with some new generation modern style which makes this fight awkward for Alex who uses traditional kickboxing techniques. Hill is a master at distance management and has incredible knockout power and can certainly catch Pereira if he isn’t always cautious. But only IF Poatan doesn’t catch him first with his nuclear weapon left hook or even worse destroys his legs with agonising leg kicks. Key factor in determining my pick is recent Hill’s injury, I believe that this is horrible comeback fight and maybe too soon and it doesn’t help that he is recovering from ACL injury which happens to be in his leg. Hill has all the tools to beat Alex but his power and accuracy will find Jamahal’s weak spots and after maybe losing first couple of rounds Alex will wear Jamahal down and secure knockout to cap of historical night of fighting. Pick: Pereira knockout round 3 That’s it ladies and gentleman, let me know in the comments what you think about this analysis, drop your predictions and enjoy the biggest fighting event in MMA history.
