I’ve seen people online saying Magomed ankalaev was never that good. So I wanted to talk about it. Let me start by stating the obvious, yes Magomed was that good he was and is a highly skilled contender and just bc of one loss to one of the greatest oat doesn’t mean he wasn’t that good. Ank beat poatan the first time out and was it a fluke win? Yes kinda, Alex wasn’t close to 100%, sick, injured and just to active. But Ank did well to capitalise on it. This rematch Alex switched the game plan a lot, I don’t think ank expected it and even tho I think he would’ve lost regardless the very smart changes by Alex caught Ank off guard. I also think Ank was talking way to much and got caught up with being the champ and all this trash talk and trying to prove people wrong. Ank has a phenomenal stand up game and a decent ground game. He’s a C level grappler but in a division with D level grapplers. Alex was never washed he was just off on that night at ufc313. He’s going to be a gatekeeper for guys to get a title shot, get through ank and you’ll get a title shot. Because if we’re being honest ank will never fight for a belt again, at 33 he just got brutally finished and he’s not Dana’s favourite as we know. To summarise it all ankalaev is and always has been very good and anyone saying anything else is stup*d. He lost to Alex pereira who had a perfect gameplan and is just that good. So ankalaev will still be at the top of 205. But what are your thoughts?
