Josh Emmett🇺🇸 (19-4) hasn't fought since December of 2023, when he knocked out Bryce Mitchell because of more lasting injuries in his notably injury prone career. At age 40, I wonder if those dents in his armor will finally start to catch up and affect him in the cage. He is an extremely powerful striker with good cardio and good tendencies to cut off the cage, work the body, and establish his jab. He also has good takedown defense with sneaky takedowns of his own. Lerone Murphy🏴 (15-0-1) is a technical counter striker who throws fast combinations at volume. During exchanges on the feet, he shoots takedowns and looks to secure top control or consistently reverse position if on the defensive. He does lack takedown defense, so don't be surprised if Josh is able to get him down. This fight gives me the vibe of a very close decision that fans are divided on. I think Lerone is going to approach this fight with an intelligent kickboxing approach, outlanding Emmett, but Josh will still have moments where he finds impactful strikes and maybe even takedowns that almost steal rounds. My pick is Murphy by decision, but my pick could switch depending on the vibes of the card if that makes sense.
