Krylov vs. Guskov Prediction
Nikita Krylov🇺🇦 (30-10) utilizes his Kyokushin Karate base on the feet to find and maintain his range and angles before pressuring then blitzing in throwing powerful but precise combinations in volume that include straight punches, hooks, uppercuts, head kicks, body kicks, and low kicks. In close range or the clinch, he also uses elbows along with knees to the head and body. One thing I've noticed about his stand-up is that because of his tendency to sometimes walk into exchanges, he can and has been caught by opponents with superior striking, which is a scary factor in this matchup. Nikita knows who he can stand with and who he needs to grapple and notoriously makes up for his lack of a wrestling base and still initiates the ground game through mixing his pressure on the feet to create openings to attack submissions or bring it to the mat with scrambles or trips in the clinch. Once down he has good top pressure and with his opponent secured on their back uses fast position advances and ground & pound to open them up for submissions in his arsenal like rear naked, triangle, and guillotine chokes or kimura and Achilles locks. Bogdan Guskov🇺🇿 (17-3) presses forward, throwing accurate jabs to get distance and set up his combinations that include powerful straight punches, right crosses, body shots, elbows, head kicks, and low kicks. His strikes are precise but I'm not a fan of a lot in his stand-up, he throws singular shots which can make him more predictable and that combined with his bad head movement and striking defense leaves him open for opponents who can survive his early flurries to potentially catch him on the feet or take him down. In the grappling he can threaten and even land some submissions and I've had the thought Bogdan may be able to actually take Krylov down in the clinch because of how solid Guskovs body locks are and that could be a factor becuase on top Guskov has brutal ground & pound and Krylov can be submitted, specifically by the arm triangle. On the other hand Bogdan doesn't have great overall grappling defense, as shown against Oezdemir, which showed us pressure graopling can overwhelm him. Call me crazy but I'm taking Guskov (RD2 SUB).
