Most underrated and forgotten fighters going into 2025 IMO
By TheRightHook
1. Micheal Morales
One of the most interesting and exciting prospects in the UFC right now and for some reason we all seem to forget he exists. besides for a little bit of recognition after his new fight announcement, I barely see anyone talk or even mention him in the 170 contender pool like they do with other prospects like Prates or Battle. Very underrated and very under appreciated by the community.
2. Sean Brady
Huge contender and yet no one talks about him like he’s a huge threat to the 170 division or the title. He did have a lackluster performance against the current champion for his only loss but he has improved massively since then and I could honestly see him beating people like Leon, Usman and Shavkat.
3. Mateusz Gamrot
There are always those fighters who are forgotten by the casual crowd of mma fans and Gamrot is exactly that one at 155. After one loss in a close split decision that some say Gamrot even won everyone that was hyping him up simply dropped him except a handful of hardcore mma fans. He was on a huge win streak and in a fraction of a day he lost it all. All hype, all contention, and most of his “Fans”.
4. Beneil Dariush
Another one at 155 who was seemingly forgot about by the community and that’s Dariush. After losing to the two best contenders in the most stacked division he was clowned and mocked for his weak chin and first round KOs that he suffered even though both of his opponents were straight killers in Arman and Oliveira. Crazy how the community can go from loving this guy because of his respectful, Loving, and passionate attitude to saying he’s never gonna get back to the top and will go on a Ferguson losing streak
5. Anthony Hernandez
Very very underrated prospect who I could honestly see getting to the top 5 this year. He has all the skills and all the potential to beat guys up there. Hernandez is also very forgotten compared to others in 185 even though he’s coming off a masterclass of a performance against Michal Pereira.
6. Gregory Rodriguez
Robocop is so forgotten I bet half of y’all don’t even remember he’s booked against Jared Cannonier this year. He’s such an interesting fighter who has a great style and flair in his fights and it’s a shame people don’t appreciate it as much as they should.
7. Brian Ortega
Like I said there is always that one guy in the division where he loses once and loses most of his fans and hype. Ortega is the 145 version. Nobody talks about him, nobody is invested in his ability to win a title or even win period. It’s a shame though because I love his style and BJJ but some people just hop off the wagon as soon as it hits a speed bump. People don’t even talk about the fact that he is blatantly in the wrong rank and should be above Yair because he beat him. Maybe once he’s gets into 155 people will open their eyes to him more
8. Vicente Luque
Underrated. Plan as that. He is so underrated and people forget man. There was a time this guy was on top of the world and had the whole community backing him. I think he’s getting some of it back but not as much as he deserves.
9. Tatsuro Taira
Another 1 loss and people forget about you. This time it’s an undefeated guy who had more hype than anyone else in 125 but ofcourse as soon as he losses his 0 and all the casuals hop off his wagon he is mostly forgotten.
10. Sergei Pavlovich
I don’t even have to explain this one… so underrated after that one loss
