Heard a lot of people complaining that there still isn’t a co-main event for 319, but since there’s still 4 weeks I think there’s still time. Expect the announcement in the next week, but I think it will be one of these.
Sean Brady (2) 🇺🇸 v Ian Machado Garry (6) 🇮🇪
Garry is an active fighter, and after headlining his win against Prates, he wants a fight in the top 5. Him and Brady have called each other out before, but recently Brady has scattered away from any fight news, hinting that he might not be fighting anytime soon. Hope Garry wins this one though.
Belal Muhammad 🇵🇸 (1) v Ian Machado Garry (6) 🇮🇪
Garry’s called him out as well, and Belal (like the little pr*ck that he is) responded at first but has since said that he only wants to fight at MSG this year. I hope someone finally flatlines Belal, and if I get to see Garry’s lanky body dancing over him, well that’s even better.
Justin Gaethje (3) 🇺🇸 v Paddy Pimblett (10) 🏴
We’ve heard rumours about this, including from DDP himself, but the closer we get to the event the less likely this is going to happen. Paddy has been training very casually in the last month, but he’s still probably near 200lbs, so there is no way he’s gonna be ready for 4 weeks. This would 100% be a banger and could end either way, but I think Paddy gets the sub. Arman Tsarukyan is constantly training and made weight as the backup fighter for 317, so he could easily fight instead of Paddy if weight is an issue.
Alexander Volkov (2) 🇷🇺 v Jailton Almeida (5) 🇧🇷
Don’t really know how I feel about this one. I’m excited for the fight, but as a PPV co-main? Not really. This fight is very likely to contain 15/25m of Almeida sitting on Volkov, possibly submitting him, possibly not. I hope Volkov wins this by some sort of hail mary KO, but I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope this isn’t a 5 round fight.
Jiri Prochazka (2) 🇨🇿 v Carlos Ulberg (3) 🇦🇺
From here on the fights are a bit of a stretch, but there’s basically nothing else. Jiri has finally finished his university exams and is looking to fight again, and he would probably fight Ulberg for the no 1 contender position at some point in the next few months. Again this would be a nice fight, but not exactly an entertaining 5 rounder. When (or if) this fight happens, I hope Jiri humbles Ulberg and gatekeeps the no 1 contender position, otherwise Ulberg as a champ would arguably be as bad as Ankalaev.
Alexander Volkanovski (C) 🇦🇺 v Movsar Evloev (1) 🇷🇺
Movsar the Molester has just pulled out of his fight with Pico next week, but he doesn’t seem badly injured. A 4 week fight camp definitely isn’t an issue for Volk, but the only question is if he would be willing to do it, having spoken recently about his lack of motivation to fight. The UFC can chuck Yair in as a back up fighter if they have to, at this point if Movsar pulls out of a title fight as well then I wouldn’t even be annoyed with Yair getting the shot instead.
Merab Dvalishvili (C) 🇬🇪 v Cory Sandhagen (4) 🇺🇸
This one probably won’t happen now, as the UFC apparently want this to headline UFC 320, but hey if both fighters agree and there is literally nothing else, why not do it earlier?
Tom Aspinall (C) 🏴 v Cyril Gane (1) 🇫🇷
Yeah if you can’t tell I’m really struggling here, but Aspinall would fight tomorrow if he was offered a fight. The only issue is Gane, but apparently these two have already signed the contract for their fight so he should be preparing for it anyway. Will probably happen at 320 or 321 anyway, but again sooner the better please UFC.
