Let me preface this by saying I am a catholic, (if you don't know much about theology Catholics ARE Christian) and an actively practicing one at that. MMA fighters who say things like "this one was for the lord" kinda disgust me. Multiple times in the Bible through multiple translations does Jesus warn about using his name to justify violence. For example Luke 9:54–56 (NKJV) And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” In this passage he is actively condemning violence in his name Titus 1:16 (NIV) “They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.” This one I found especially powerful talking about how people say they know god but then do the exact opposite of what he commands him to do 1 John 2:6 (NIV) “Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” Jesus calls for pease through the whole Bible so when someone like Bryce Mitchel says "THIS ONES FOR GOD" it is one of the most hypocritical statements one can make CONCLUSION: You can still be an MMA practitioner and a good Christian (we are all flawed as humans through original sin) just know that if you call in Jesus' name when in the ring it is the exact OPPOSITE of what he would have wanted for you.
