I think you're going to hear some fight news pretty soon, and it could be me and Dustin Poirier.
- Michael Chandler to media at UFC London.

Chandler revealed to media at UFC London that he has some fight news coming soon and that it may be who the fans have been asking for.

Michael Chandler's UFC run has been full of fan-friendly bouts and exciting moments on the mic. He has produced memorable moments such as his fight of the year in 2021 vs. Justin Gaethje and most recently his leading contender for knockout of the year, a spectacular front kick KO over Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.

Poirier's last fight was for the UFC Lightweight title against former champion Charles Oliveira in December of 2021 at UFC 269. Poirier started strong but would lose the fight via 3rd round submission to a standing rear-naked choke.

Chandler's history with Dustin Poirier stems from his first UFC fight at UFC 257 where in his post-fight interview he mentioned Poirier's name among others in a series of callouts. Their fight would never come to be though as Poirier would chase money fights and Chandler was offered to fight for the title.

A year and some change later it is now Dustin that has been calling Chandler out at every turn and even initiating a verbal altercation in the stands at UFC 276. Chandler spoke on the matter, saying it was 'the opposite way to get a fight with me.'

Although he said this, it seems that a fight between the two may come sooner than we expected.
