Khamzat Chimaev will fight Kevin Holland in a 5-round co-main event at UFC 279 on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas after missing weight by 7.5 lbs for his original fight vs. Nate Diaz.

The fight will take place at Welterweight (170 lbs) where Khamzat Chimaev is ranked #3 and Kevin Holland is not ranked.

There is as much heat as can be on this fight. These two have been in multiple physical altercations with one another dating back to Fight Island 2020.

The two were much-hyped prospects during the 2020 Covid era and many wanted them to be matched up. Holland was completing a 5-0 year at the time and Chimaev was the biggest thing in MMA with his 3-0 start in the UFC. They first crossed paths in a fighter hotel at Fight Island where Chimaev reportedly thought Holland was staff and demanded room service from him. According to the Chechen, they got physical and he slapped Holland before being separated.

Their most recent run-in with each other is currently the most controversial news in MMA as they initiated a massive brawl backstage at the UFC 279 press conference, thus canceling the venue. According to witnesses Holland was getting verbal and Chimaev approached him and kicked him in his chest. The brawl spilled out into the masses present in the arena and over 100 people got involved.

These two are riding high wins but Khamzat is not in the favor of the masses due to his massive weight miss.
