Another day, another controversial decision.
Dustin Jacoby and Khalil Rountree Jr just fought in a barn burner, but unfortunately, that’s not why this fight is being talked about. Today we’ll look at the fight, the Verdict Scorecard, and the judges’ scorecards to decide if this fight was truly a robbery.
The rounds in question are 1 and 2 as they are where the judges disagreed. Round 3 was unanimously agreed upon by the judges and the Verdict Community.
Round 1:
A look at the stats via the UFC will show that Jacoby landed 34 significant strikes while Rountree landed just 20. The numbers cannot tell the entire story, but the Global Scorecard, judged by the Verdict Community, can.
Round 1 Final Verdict: 10-9 Jacoby
Round 2:
Round 2 was the clearest of the fight according to the Verdict Community. The numbers were much closer with Jacoby landing 39 significant strikes and Rountree 35, however, the impact was much greater on Jacoby’s side, as reflected by the Global Scorecard.
Round 2 Final Verdict: 10-9 Jacoby
With a total strike margin of 122 to 88 in favor of Jacoby, did the judges get this one correct? No, no they did not.
