A heated top-15 matchup between Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal has just been announced for UFC 287 at an undetermined location, per Dana White.

This fight takes place in the Welterweight (170 lbs) division.

Gilbert Burns holds a professional record of 21-5 (14-5 in the UFC) and is currently ranked #5 at Welterweight, with notable wins against Stephen Thompson, Tyron Woodley, and Demian Maia

Jorge Masvidal is currently ranked #11 at Welterweight and holds a professional record of 35-16 (12-9 in the UFC). He has notable wins against Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, and Darren Till.

Official odds have yet to be released.

Gilbert Burns returned to action after his war with Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 283, taking on Neil Magny in the featured bout of the card. He would control the entire fight by securing an early takedown and dominating the grappling exchanges. This success allowed him to secure a first-round submission victory. Burns is now 2-2 in his last four fights and will be looking to go on his first winning streak since 2020.

Jorge Masvidal last fought at UFC 272 in March 2022, losing a dominant 5-round unanimous decision to the #2 ranked Welterweight Colby Covington. During the fight, he would struggle to keep up with Covington's pace, forcing him to slow in the later rounds. He'll be looking to rebound from the first 3-fight loss streak in his career, the other two defeats coming at the hands of the former Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.
