Cody "No Love" Garbrandt has revealed that he's been offered a contract by the UFC to face former foe Dominick Cruz in a rematch in July, per Ross Markey.
Cody Garbrandts' record stands at 8-5 inside the UFC, but recently he has not been able to capitalize on the same success he had at the start of his UFC career. After putting together a five-fight winning streak inside the promotion, including victories over Marcus Brimage and Takeya Mizugaki, he would be rewarded with a title shot against defending Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz. "No Love" would put on a career-best performance, knocking down the Champion twice on his way to a unanimous decision victory.
Yet, after this bout, Garbrandt would not find the success he desired, losing five of his next six bouts to T.J. Dillashaw twice, Pedro Munhoz, Rob Font, and Kai-Kara France. However, he recently got back into the win column at UFC 285, defeating Trevin Jones by a unanimous decision.
Now, weeks after his win, the former Bantamweight Champion revealed he's been offered a contract against his old rival. Dominick Cruz vs Cody Garbrandt was an instant classic the first time, and with how much has changed over the years, fans would be ecstatic for a rematch. Garbrandt mentioned that the UFC approached him, calling the two men to fight in July. Although nothing is signed and sealed yet, it's unlikely either man would turn down the matchup, so we may see it come to fruition soon.
