This season of Dana White's Contender Series continues this Tuesday as another card of UFC hopefuls compete at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas in search of a contract. I went over every matchup on the card to give my predictions and bets, so let's get into it.

Odds provided by Duelbits accurate as of 8/25/2025

Trent Miller +300 vs. Ryan Gandra -435

Middleweights who like to get their knockouts early and often headline with this one. Trent Miller is a hard-hitting athlete with numerous first-round finishes, although he has struggled against experienced competition and has shown a weakness in grappling. Ryan Gandra is a pressure striker who unloads long combinations, occasionally mixing in some grappling to overwhelm his opponents, although his defense is a concern.

I'll pick Gandra, as he has fought higher-level competition and had more success doing so. However, at these odds, I am not eager to get involved, as Gandra can get wild, and Miller hits hard enough to take advantage of that early.

Prediction: Gandra by 2nd Round TKO

Marcio Barbosa -357 vs. Damon Wilson +255

A fight that is almost guaranteed not to go the distance goes down here at Featherweight. Marcio Barbosa is a hard-hitting boxer who has finished most of his opponents in the first round and shown his power by dropping fighters at the level of Gabriel Santos, although his cardio has been an issue with him being finished twice in his three fights that have entered the second round. Damon Wilson is a high-paced switch stance fighter who mixes his striking and wrestling well, but he hasn't faced the highest level of competition and has been caught while being overly aggressive, often leading to him taking a lot of damage.

The cardio is a clear concern, but I'm taking Barbosa to get another early finish here, as he has proven his power can hurt tough opponents, and he will be the more physical fighter who bullies Wilson back to the cage and knocks him out early.

Prediction: Barbosa by 1st Round TKO

Alik Lorenz +600 vs. Abdulrakhman Yakhyaev -1111

Light Heavyweights who rarely go past round one square off here. Alik Lornez is a striker with a solid straight right, although he has had some tough fights against lower-level competition, and his ground game is not at the highest level. Abdulrakhman Yakhyaev is a dominant grappler who has also shown power in his hands, dropping Paulin Begai seconds into their fight before submitting him.

Yakhyaev is on a different level here, and I expect him to get another early finish in this one to earn a contract.

Prediction: Yakhyaev by 1st Round KO

Cristian Perez +225 vs. Manoel Sousa -303

Exciting matchup here between Lightweights with fun styles. Cristian Perez is a well-rounded finisher with a unique style that has seen him immediately roll for heel hooks before securing a knockout in the clinch minutes later. Manoel Sousa is a stocky and powerful fighter who swings big combinations and mixes in a strong grappling game with a good ability to do damage and a solid submission attack, having almost finished his last fight with a kimura at the end of the second round.

This one could get wild, but I'll take Sousa as he is more defensively responsible and has more ability to spend time on top in grappling exchanges.

Prediction: Sousa by Decision

Darion Abbey +260 vs. Donte Johnson -357

Heavyweight power punchers square off to open the card here. Darion Abbey is an experienced fighter with a questionable record, although he has made some improvements since his early career and possesses fight-ending power, having competed in solid organizations and trained at a top gym. Donte Johnson is an explosive athlete who is small for a Heavyweight but has shown he has power when he lands, with all five of his wins coming by first-round knockout.

I have to go with Abbey at these odds as he is the much bigger and more experienced fighter in a matchup where either guy could go down early, and we haven't seen Johnson tested late.

Prediction: Abbey by 2nd Round TKO Bet: Abbey MoneyLine
