Per ESPN, Beneil Dariush will face Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 280 on October 22nd in the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.
Beneil is a mainstay of the UFC Lightweight rankings whereas Gamrot is on a fast rise to the top after joining the promotion.
Dariush's last fight was against Tony Ferguson at UFC 262 in May of 2021. His return will mark a nearly 18-month layoff after defeating Ferguson by a unanimous decision. He is currently riding a 7-fight win streak, the longest of his career, and will look to continue it at UFC 280.
Gamrot is on an impressive win streak of his own with 4 wins in a row, and 3 by finish. His last was a unanimous decision win over Arman Tsarukyan in a main event just last month.
The winner of this fight will likely enter the top 5 of the Lightweight division after a champion is crowned between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev the same night.
