Jose “Shorty” Torres believes he did enough to win at Super RIZIN.4, even if the judges didn’t agree.
Following a close decision loss to Hiromasa Ougikubo in the Flyweight Grand Prix opener, Torres voiced his frustration with how the bout was scored.
Torres believes he won the second and third rounds of the fight. If RIZIN used the Unified Rules of MMA, he may have earned a 29-28 decision. However, RIZIN uses a different scoring system, judging the fight as a whole rather than round-by-round.
Despite the setback, Torres isn't looking to sit on the sidelines. He expressed interest in rejoining the tournament should an opportunity arise, or taking a separate fight under RIZIN in the future.
Torres also accepted this fight on short notice, so it’s likely RIZIN will reward his gameness with another opportunity inside the promotion.
