After an incredible five-round fight, Dricus du Plessis defeated Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 297 via split decision to capture the UFC Middleweight Championship of the world.

The entire fight was competitive, with Strickland lighting du Plessis up with his jabs, but du Plessis's awkward style was catching Strickland off guard. Du Plessis also had multiple takedown attempts and was securing multiple of them. At the end of a five-round war, du Plessis was crowned the new champion.

The first three rounds were give and take, but I was there for rounds four and five. Who said, "This guy's not a five round fighter?".
- Dricus du Plessis
