Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler were involved in a verbal altercation in the crowd while attending UFC 276.
As shown in a video provided by Gilbert Burns, the two were shouting at one another just a few feet away, with several security officers between them. The aggressor appeared to be Poirier, who was seen pointing at Michael and constantly shouting, "You're a b****!!". Meanwhile, Chandler was slowly being escorted away by security and could be heard shouting, "I'll f*** you up! See you at the top!!"
Poirier and Chandler have a history together dating back to UFC 257 at Fight Island. After successfully making his UFC debut, Chandler mentioned Poirier's name amidst callouts of Conor and Khabib, but the two did not meet there. Poirier would chase a money fight against Conor McGregor, and Chandler would go on to fight Charles Oliveira for the vacant Lightweight title.
Recently it was Poirier doing the callouts, though. He had been publicly asking for a fight against Chandler on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and via Twitter. Chandler stated that he had no interest in the fight and would rather face Conor McGregor for a money fight.
No one truly knows what sparked this uncharacteristic incident from both men, but perhaps it could lead to a fight down the line.
