UFC on FOX 17: Dos Anjos vs. Cowboy 2

Odds: Kamaru Usman -230, Leon Edwards +210

The first fight had the closest odds of the three coming into the fight, which makes sense as this was when we knew little about just how good each of these men would be. Entering the first matchup, Kamaru Usman was preparing for his first official UFC bout after winning The Ultimate Fighter 21 over Hayder Hassan. Leon Edwards had gained momentum by this point, having won his last two fights, including an eight-second knockout win. Despite Edwards having the experience edge, Usman was seen as a great prospect with his very high-level wrestling already having shown itself on TUF, and with Edwards having lost his UFC debut because of his grappling, this gave Usman the edge.

UFC 278: Usman vs. Edwards 2

Odds: Kamaru Usman -345, Leon Edwards +315

Many years after Usman won the first matchup, these two were set to meet again with entirely new resumes behind each fighter. Usman was the reigning Welterweight champ, with five title defenses and the number one pound-for-pound spot coming off his second decision win over Colby Covington. Edwards had not lost since his first fight with Usman in ten fights, although entering this, he was coming off a fight with Nate Diaz that was going his way until a late moment from Diaz left many concerned about Edwards. Although it was clear, Edwards was the rightful challenger; the odds indicate that most believed Usman would retain with relative ease.

UFC 286: Edwards vs. Usman 3

Odds: Kamaru Usman -250, Leon Edwards +210

The epic comeback set up the third meeting between the two, with Usman coming in as a favorite for all three matchups. Edwards enters this fight with newfound confidence with the home crowd behind him, giving many belief that he will perform better than their second matchup. Usman will need to overcome the devastating knockout here to reclaim his title, which few have done in the past, as few have seen champions like Anderson Silva knocked out and never return to form. The odds have thinned out since the rematch, with many questions about how Usman will return and with confidence in Edwards at an all-time high, although oddsmakers still believe Usman to be the superior fighter.
