It's been a busy week in the world of MMA. With international fight week occurring and UFC 290 going down this weekend, some big fight announcements have gone under the radar, so let's round up all the fight rumors and confirmations.
The UFC 293 card, which is going down on September 10th in Sydney, Australia, is finally getting some fire added to it. Per Mike Bohn, The #6 ranked Heavyweight Tai Tuivasa will be looking to snap his two-fight losing streak against the veteran and #7 ranked Alexander Volkov, who's coming off big wins over Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alexander Romanov.
Per Igor Ribeiro, it is rumored that Deiveson Figueiredo will return sometime in September. The #1 ranked Flyweight will move to the Bantamweight division to take on the #9 ranked former WEC and UFC World Champion, Dominick Cruz. Figueiredo is coming off a quadrilogy with Brandon Moreno, where he faced the Mexican four times in a row, losing twice, drawing once, and winning once. Dominick Cruz is coming off a KO loss to Marlon Vera last August in their main event clash. Both men will be looking to rebound from their losses in this matchup.
Grant Dawson, the #10 ranked UFC Lightweight, recently reported that bout negotiations between Beniel Dariush and Arman Tsarukyan are underway. Dawson and Tsarukyan train together at American Top Team, where he heard about the rumor. Although unconfirmed, this would be a massive fight in the Lightweight division, with two of the best grapplers facing each other. Dariush, ranked #4, is coming off a TKO loss to Charles Oliveira. In contrast, Tsarukyan, who's ranked #8, is riding a two-fight winning streak and will be looking for the most significant victory of his career.
Initially, Marlon Vera was supposed to face Henry Cejudo at UFC 292. However, Cejudo announced earlier this month he was injured and would not be able to fight. Per Iridium Sports Agency, Pedro Munhoz has taken the short notice bout against Vera, which will go down on August 19th in Boston, Massachusetts. The #6 ranked Vera is coming off a decision loss to Cory Sandhagen, whereas Pedro Munhoz is coming off his first win in two years when he beat Chris Gutiérrez back in April.
