Sage Northcutt has one of the most decorated youth careers in combat sports. He began training at a young age under his father and was soon a karate black belt. He amassed dozens of titles and wins before competing in kickboxing, where he had similar success. As he grew, he began training in wrestling and eventually debuted in the MMA scene.

Sage is an LFA (Legacy Fighting Alliance) product through and through. He began both his amateur and professional careers there, going 5-1 as an amateur and 5-0 as a pro. With 11 MMA fights under his resume, he was signed to the UFC after being scouted by Dana White at 19 years old.

Many thought it was too early for a teenager to fight at the highest level, but he proved doubters wrong. Sage scored a TKO in under a minute in his debut and followed up with a guillotine sub in his next fight. The world belonged to 'Super' Sage Northcutt.

It wasn't until his 3rd UFC fight that he tasted defeat at the hands of Bryan Barbarena. The savvy veteran took him into deeper waters than he'd swam before and finished the fight with an arm triangle choke. Sage went on to win his next fight by decision before being submitted again in a firefight against Mickey Gall.

This wasn't the end, though. Northcutt was determined to realize his potential. He wasn't just another 'hype train' that bit the dust. He took nearly a year off and came back better than ever, using his full range of skills to pick up a decision win over Michel Quinones. Much of the same happened in his next fight, where he got back on a winning streak with another decision win.

Sage wasn't satisfied with being given wins by the judges. He needed a finish. He took on another veteran, Zak Ottow, in what would be one of his toughest tests to date. Sage nearly fell victim to his opponent but rallied back with a 2nd round knockout to cement a 3-fight winning streak.

It was revealed that undefeated former Bellator and ONE champion Ben Askren was returning from retirement and looking for a new home. However, he was still under contract with ONE and wanted to compete in the UFC. Thus, a trade was set up. The UFC gave ONE Championship Demetrious Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, and Sage Northcutt in return for the 19-0 superstar.

Johnson got off to a great start in ONE, winning immediately. However, things didn't go as well for Alvarez and Northcutt, who suffered first-round knockout losses. Northcutt suffered a devastating KO loss to Cosmo Alexandre in 2019 that has kept him out of action to date.

Sage Northcutt returns today at ONE on Prime Video 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III. He takes on Ahmed Mujtaba on the first US card in ONE Championship history. The event is packed with action from top to bottom, including a Muay Thai world title bout between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Edgar Tabares, Demetrious Johnson's first defense of his Flyweight title, and more.

Be sure to catch Sage's first fight in 4 years on Amazon Prime Video!
