Former UFC double champ Henry Cejudo has taken shots at Sean O’Malley and wants him at UFC 284 with interim gold on the line.
This isn’t the first time Cejudo has tried to fight O’Malley. He was seen calling ‘Suga’ out to his face after his fight vs. Pedro Munhoz, which ended in a no contest via eye poke.
Cejudo’s last fight in the UFC took place in May of 2020 when he finished Dominick Cruz in the 2nd round with a brutal knee. He retired later that night, vacating the belt that Aljamain Sterling now holds.
Sean O’Malley recently defeated Petr Yan at UFC 280. The bout was a back-and-forth brawl, earning Fight of The Night honors. Unfortunately, however, the fight is remembered for its controversial end. The judges gave Sean O’Malley a split decision that caused the MMA Community to erupt. Cries of ‘robbery’ were heard around the world as fans sat in shock as to what had occurred. Yan won every round on the Global Scorecard, and from a total of 26 MMA media members, just 1 scored the fight for O’Malley.
If this fight takes place, it will be Cejudo’s first in nearly 3 years and the first time since 2018 that he will fight in a non-undisputed title fight.
