The co-main event for UFC 295 is finally official. The highly anticipated matchup between Former UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jiří Procházka and Former UFC Middleweight Champion and the 2x Glory Kickboxing Champion Alex Pereira is now official. It will occur in Maddison Square Jiří Procházka.
This five-round title fight takes place in the Light-Heavyweight (205 lbs) division.
Jiří Procházka is ranked #1 in the Light-Heavyweight division and holds a professional record of 29-3-1 (3-0 UFC). He has credible wins over Glover Teixeira, Dominick Reyes, and Volkan Oezdemir.
Alex Pereira holds a professional record of 8-2 (5-1 UFC) and has notable wins over Israel Adesanya, Jan Blachowicz, and Sean Strickland. He holds the #3 ranking in the Light-Heavyweight division.
Official odds have yet to be released.
Jiří Procházka will be making his highly anticipated comeback on this card. After capturing the UFC Light-Heavyweight title at UFC 275 when he shockingly submitted Glover Teixeira in the final round of their bout, Pocházka willingly vacated the title due to a devastating shoulder injury that sidelined him for eighteen months. Now, Procházka will look to become a 2x Champion in the division, taking on the best striker he's faced in his career.
Alex Pereira has had one hell of a UFC career so far. After debuting in November 2021, Pereira already has wins over three former Champions and has victories in two weight divisions. His last win came over Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291, winning via split decision. After overcoming his Light-Heavyweight debut, he looks to defeat Procházka and become the ninth fighter to hold two UFC belts in different divisions, joining a scarce list of names like Conor McGregor and Henry Cejudo.
This is the matchup everyone has been waiting for, one of the most highly anticipated bouts of the year. Let us know your prediction for the fight in the comments down below.
