It's been announced by the UFC that Laura Sanko will make her color commentary debut this weekend at UFC Fight Night 218: Lewis vs. Spivac. She will be the second female commentator the UFC has had in its thirty-year run, and the first in the modern era.
Although it's her debut in the UFC commentary booth, Sanko has already demonstrated that her elite commentary and analytical skills. She has been a commentator for Dana White's Contender Series, a promotion that scouts for future UFC talent, for over five years. Including commentary, she has previously performed post-fight interviews and announcements.
Sanko's knowledge of martial arts comes from her MMA background and karate training at a young age. She has a professional record of 1-0 and an amateur record of 4-1 in MMA. However, due to family issues, she could not pursue a fighting career and instead picked up the microphone and dedicated herself to the media. This led to her becoming a prominent media personality over the years, and now has the biggest spotlight of her career.
Sanko will be debuting on an exciting card this weekend, headlined by Heavyweight knockout king Derrick Lewis and prospect Serghei Spivac. Other notable names on this card include Doohoo Choi, Tatsuro Taira, and Marcin Tybura.
