UFC Welterweight champion Leon Edwards had some sting in his words as he responded to Jorge Masvidal’s recent callout of him.
These harsh words came in response to a recent interview where Masvidal told MMA Fighting that Leon cried and ‘did all this bulls****’ to fight him when Masvidal was on top, but now wants nothing to do with him.
"Leon, f** step up to the plate, bro. You begged and cried and did all this bulls**** before when I was fighting for the title. Now you got the belt, let's go. If Leon wants it I’m here but he’d rather be drinking tea and eating fish and chips."
Masvidal and Edwards’ history began in March of 2019 in London when after defeating Darren Till, Masvidal attacked Edwards backstage during an interview, leaving his face bloodied and bruised. Leon sought the fight ever since then in order to seek revenge. The pair was then scheduled to fight at UFC 269 in a potential #1 contender’s fight, but Masvidal withdrew.
Now, Leon Edwards is the new king of his division, and Masvidal is ranked #11 coming off of 3 losses and the tides have shifted completely.
