Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship president David Feldman announced on The MMA Hour today that he has signed Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez to the promotion. The two will debut against fellow UFC veterans Mike Perry and Chad Mendes on April 29th at the 1st Bank Center in Denver, Colorado.
Rockhold vs. Perry will take place at 185 lbs as the main event.
Luke Rockhold is the former UFC Middleweight champion and was considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world during his prime. Unfortunately, after losing his title to Michael Bisping, he'd go 1-3 in his next four bouts, losing to Yoel Romero and Jan Blachowicz via knockouts before making a return against Paulo Costa at UFC 278 on one of 2022's Fight of The Year contenders.
Despite losing a unanimous decision to Costa, Rockhold's stock elevated more than fans could have expected due to the competitive and entertaining performance he put on. Rockhold retired from MMA following the bout but has found his way into boxing.
'Platinum' Mike Perry is a fellow-all action UFC fighter turned bare-knuckle boxer. Following his UFC release after two losses to Tim Means and Daniel Rodriguez, Perry has gone 3-0 in BKFC with wins over Michael Seals, Julian Lane, and Michael 'Venom' Page.
This is one of the most unexpected matchups of the year but is guaranteed to be action. Let us know your prediction in the comments below.
