The former Flyweight Champion is back. Deiveson Figueiredo will move up to the 135 lbs division to face veteran Rob Font at UFC Fight Night 233 in an unknown venue and location.
It is still being determined if this bout will serve as the headliner for the card.
This bout takes place in the Bantamweight (135 lbs) division.
Rob Font holds a professional record of 20-7 (10-6 UFC) and has notable wins over Adrian Yanez, Cody Garbrandt, and Marlon Moraes. He is ranked #7 in the Bantamweight division, tied with Song Yadong.
Deiveson Figueiredo is ranked #2 in the Flyweight division and holds a professional record of 21-3-1 (10-3-1 UFC), with noteworthy wins over Brandon Moreno, Alexandre Pantoja, and Joseph Benavidez.
Official odds have yet to be released.
Rob Font is coming off a lackluster loss to Cory Sandhagen. After blowing the roof off the Miami-Dade Arena by spectacularly KOing Adrian Yanez, Font would accept a short-notice matchup vs. Sandhagen. Fans expected this bout to be a highly-competitive striking affair, but a low-output grappling match ensued due to an injury on Sandhagen's end. Font will now look to get back into the win column, welcoming Figueiredo to the Bantamweight division.
Deiveson Figueiredo is also coming off a loss. Following four consecutive matchups against Brandon Moreno, "Deus Da Guerra" would come out on the losing side, scoring one win over Moreno, while the Mexican took two victories and shared a draw. After teasing a move up in weight multiple times, Figueiredo will finally make the move to Bantamweight after a fifteen-fight run in the UFC's Flyweight division, where his power and explosiveness will likely still shine.
This is a volatile matchup in the stacked Bantamweight division. As a member of the Verdict Community, let us know who you think will win in the comments below.
