Toronto, Canada, was treated to a fantastic fight between two debuting Bantamweight fighters who had a grudge to settle at UFC 297. Following a premature stoppage, Serhiy Sidey was given the victory in their DWCS bout in 2023. This time, it was Taveras who got the victory.

The first round was a competitive affair between the two talented Bantamweights. Sidey attempted to land his high kick but was dropped by a body shot and rocked at the end of round 1 by Taveras, who remained composed in enemy territory. However, in the second, Sidey landed a sharp right hand, which rocked Taveras and began to pile on the pressure. But, in a crazy turnaround, Taveras dropped Sidey in the middle of the second round. The Bantamweights continued to go back and forth, but Sidey poured in to rally back into the fight. Both men dug deep in the third round, but Ramon Taveras earned the controversial split-decision victory.

I had to get it in blood. I had to fight through adversity. Sidey is a tough MF; I'm sure I'll see him again.
- Ramon Taveras
