The UFC returns to the Apex this weekend with a short-notice main event at Flyweight between Tatsuro Taira and Hyun Sung Park. I went over every fight on the card to give my predictions and bets, including the Underdog Best Bet of the Week, so let's get into it.
Odds provided by Duelbits are accurate as of 7/31/2025
Our new main event is a short-notice clash between young Flyweights with strong ground games. Tatsuro Taira is a very young and skilled fighter with dangerous submissions that he is not afraid to give up his position to attack, and his striking has made clear improvements. Hyun Sung Park is an undefeated prospect who made a fast impression on fans with a knockout of Shannon Ross and then a submission victory over Carlos Hernandez, showcasing well-rounded finishing skills.
I'm picking Taira here, as I believe he has the more technical grappling and his experience against higher-level competition and in five-round fights will play a significant factor.
Prediction: Taira by Decision
Very fun matchup here in the co-main event between two finishers at Lightweight. Chris Duncan is a crafty finisher with a big right hand and great guillotine, although his wrestling and boxing are also good enough to win minutes, as he has shown with several decision wins in the UFC. Mateusz Rebecki is a powerful tank who puts a lot of pressure on early with his hard-hitting striking and skilled ground game, which has earned him finishes of Roosevelt Roberts and Loik Radzhabov.
I'll take Rebecki to get an early finish, as it is tough to see Duncan being able to out-physical him, considering how strong Rebecki is, and we have seen Duncan hurt by good punchers before.
Prediction: Rebecki by 1st Round TKO Bet: Rebecki Inside the Distance
All action war is expected in this one at Lightweight. Esteban Ribovics is a high-volume kickboxer who puts together hard and fast combinations all fight long, although he is rather hittable, as shown early against Nasrat Haqparast. Elves Brenner is a tough fighter from the Chute Boxe gym who has looked rough in his last few outings, including a decision loss to Myktybek Orolbai and a knockout to Joel Alvarez.
I like Ribovics to get back in the win column in this one, as I believe he will be the higher volume and more powerful fighter, doing much more damage.
Prediction: Ribovics by 3rd Round TKO Bet: Ribovics Inside The Distance
Strikers square off here, looking to move up through the Bantamweight ranks. Karol Rosa is a tough and high-paced striker with good low kicks and boxing skills, along with a solid ground game to keep fights standing, although she lacks significant power. Nora Cornolle is a kickboxer who excels at mixing up her targets between the head and body and has a well-rounded game, as she demonstrated last time out by submitting Hayley Cowan.
I lean towards Rosa here as I feel her volume is going to give her an edge in the striking, but the grappling upside of Cornolle gives me pause here.
Prediction: Rosa by Decision
Welterweight veterans square off here in this main card bout. Neil Magny is a seasoned fighter with a strong clinch game and good pressure, although he has suffered several knockout losses lately, which raises some concern. Elizeu Zaleski is a solid kickboxer who keeps a good pace over three rounds, but can be slowed by pressure grappling, as he was against Rinat Fakhretdinov.
I'll go with Magny to get the win here as he has the style to make this an ugly, clinch-heavy battle where he wins the minutes and Zaleski isn't the same kind of knockout puncher as Michael Morales or Carlos Prates.
Prediction: Magny by Decision
Fantastic clash of up-and-coming Featherweights here has plenty of fans excited. Danny Silva is a high-volume boxer who is not afraid to get into a brawl and is comfortable in the late stages of a tough fight. Kevin Vallejos is a top prospect who showed his skill by going to a close decision with Jean Silva and then dominating his next several opponents, including his UFC debut, where he melted Seung Woo Choi in the first round.
This is a tough fight, but I'm not worried about Vallejos, as he has shown his skills are legit enough to hang with high-level opposition, and he is only going to continue to improve at his young age. With that, I'll take him by decision here, as the finishing rate often goes down with increased competition, and Silva has never been finished.
Prediction/Bet: Vallejos by Decision
Interesting matchup here between two Middleweights looking to get their UFC career on track. Nick Klein is a skilled grappler who can quickly secure chokes and land big shots, as he did early against Mansur Abdul-Malik in his UFC debut, nearly pulling off a huge upset. Andrey Pulayev is a long kickboxer with numerous quick finishes on the regional scene, but he has struggled to get his offense going against higher-level opposition.
I'm taking Klein here, as I believe he is the much more dangerous fighter anywhere the fight goes, but his grappling advantage in particular stands out.
Prediction: Klein by 1st Round Submission Bet: Klein MoneyLine
Different types of grapplers square off in this one at Bantamweight. Rinya Nakamura is a very explosive wrestler who looks to bounce back from his first career loss here, having struggled when striking with Muin Gafurov in his last fight. Nathan Fletcher is a decent submission grappler who lost his UFC debut to Caolan Loughran after being outstruck and outwrestled most of the fight.
I see Nakamura dominating this matchup as he has the wrestling to take down and control Fletcher, and I also believe he has significantly better striking.
Prediction: Nakamura by Decision
Clash of styles here at Middleweight as a submission ace takes on a dangerous finisher. Rodolfo Viera is a world-class submission grappler who has improved the rest of his game, although he still lacks the strongest boxing and wrestling skills. Tresean Gore is a raw fighter who has spent most of his young career in the UFC, although he has shown solid striking and a well-rounded grappling game, including an opportunistic submission style.
His lack of experience is concerning, but I like Gore here because I feel the path to victory for him is clear, as we have seen what happens when grapplers who have transitioned are forced to engage in striking, which Viera may be here, as he was against Chris Curtis. With that, Tresean Gore is this week's Underdog Best Bet of the Week.
Prediction: Gore by Decision Bet: Gore MoneyLine (Best Bet)
Grapplers collide in this fun Flyweight showdown. Felipe Bunes is a skilled submission grappler who showcased his skills with an armbar of Jose Johnson in his last outing, although he has not had success when extended into later rounds against stronger opposition. Rafael Estevam is an undefeated fighter with a solid takedown game, excelling at inflicting damage and hunting submissions while in top position.
I'm picking Estevam here, as I feel he has much better cardio and is the fighter more likely to be in a top position, while also having the skills to defend any submission attempts from Bunes.
Prediction: Estevam by 3rd Round Submission
Strawweights look to build momentum here in this prelim matchup. Piera Rodriguez is a strong wrestler who looks to build off a strong performance last time out, where she was able to use her grappling to dominate Josefine Knutsson. Ketlen Souza is a finisher who comes in having won two of her last three, including an impressive first-round finish over Yazmin Jauregui, although she has been finished four times herself over her career, which is concerning.
I lean towards Rodriguez here, as I see her winning the minutes in this fight with volume or top control and winning a decision; however, the finishing ability and power shots of Souza remain a factor.
Prediction: Rodriguez by Decision
Short-notice matchup kicks off the card here at Featherweight. Austin Bashi is a high-level submission grappler who showed he was lacking physicality in his UFC debut, which he lost in a competitive decision to Christian Rodriguez. John Yannis makes his debut here off three straight knockout victories, showing his solid striking, although he has had issues grappling before.
I think Bashi gets a quick submission here as long as he looks to grapple, although I do believe he is also a better striker in this matchup.
Prediction: Bashi by 1st Round Submission
