The Pound-For-Pound King Islam Makhachev returns this weekend. Tune in for greatness.
Where? Ireland will host a Conor McGregor press conference for the first time since he fought Floyd Mayweather. Free tickets for the conference were released on May 30th, and they sold out in just nine minutes.
Conference details: This special press conference will be held at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, on June 3rd, beginning at 5pm IST. McGregor and his opponent, Michael Chandler, will be the only attendees.
Why: One of Australia's best prospects, Jack Della Maddalena, revealed he underwent surgery days after his last fight at UFC 299. This surgery on his arm did not heal and caused an infection. He will undergo another surgery in two weeks time.
What was planned? Fans were expecting Shavkhat Rakhmonov to fight Della Maddalena in a #1 contender matchup to face the winner of UFC 304's main event, Edwards vs. Muhammad.
Who was released? Gegard Mousasi was released by the PFL on May 23rd, per an official statement made by Mike Kogan. Mousasi has been fighting with the PFL since their acquisition of Bellator and has now been granted his freedom.
Who was re-signed? The PFL announced in the following days that they had re-signed long-time Bellator fighter Douglas Lima, best known for his highlight-reel KO over Michael "Venom" Page.
Nick Diaz: That's right, Nick Diaz is returning to the UFC octagon on August 3rd in Abu Dhabi for a five-round co-main event against Vicente Luque. This will be Diaz's first MMA fight since 2021, where he was bizarrely TKOed by Robbie Lawler.
Tony Ferguson: "El Cucuy" will also return to the octagon on the same card, looking to snap his disastrous six-fight losing streak. He will be fighting Michael Chiesa in the Welterweight division, which could be his final UFC fight, win or lose.
Easily run-down At UFC 302 media day, Islam Makhachev criticized the longevity of the new gloves and told reporters the gloves become old after just two weeks.**
Higher cut potential: Sean Strickland also echoed this point, highlighting increased stitching on the gloves, which could lead to more cuts. He also mentioned how no effort was made to reduce the risk of eye pokes.
Details: Andre Muniz revealed with an X-ray that he fractured his foot in sparring and is suffering from a staph infection on his chest. He said these reasons led to him pulling out vs. Aliskerov.
What's next for Ikram? Ikram Aliskerov has now had multiple big name fighters pull out against him, including Nassourdine Imavov, Paulo Costa and Muniz. He posted on his socials he will stay ready for June 15th, with his opponent unknown.
Really? Yup, TUF 32 will premiere June 4th on ESPN and ESPN+. The season will feature Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko as coaches, containing Featherweights and Middleweight.
