We’re really close to launching a new feature inside the app that will let the Verdict Community speak their thoughts. Stay tuned.
What he said: The fight will be managed Elon and Zuckerberg’s foundations and not the UFC. The event will be live-streamed on X, formerly known as Twitter, and Meta. All of the proceeds will be donated to veterans.
The location: The fight will take place in Italy inside an ‘epic location,’ which probably means the Colosseum. Elon spoke to the PM of Italy, and the Minister of Culture, and they both want to do the fight. This is getting more real every week.
The details: Lewis signed a new 8-fight contract with the UFC that will keep him competing in the Octagon for another 3-4 years based on his current activity. Dana White confirmed the news on Wednesday at a Power Slap press conference, stating that he loves Lewis professionally and personally.
Who else did he speak to? Lewis spent less than 10 days in free agency, so probably not anyone outside the UFC. The biggest viable option outside the UFC was a fight against Francis Ngannou in the PFL, but that’s not happening anymore.
His issue: O’Malley believes that the current state of fighter management is bad and that managers are ‘stealing’ money from fighters. He thinks it’s crazy that managers are taking a percentage of post-fight bonus money and more.
His plan: He said he’s going to release something that’s going to be massive and is waiting to get clearance from his legal team first. His goal is to protect the fighters.
The details: It’s not yet confirmed how many fights Perry has signed for, but we know it’s a multi-fight contract. BKFC President David Feldman said this past May that Perry was built for bare-knuckle fighting and that he can be the marquee Superstar of the sport.
Perry’s next fight: Nothing official yet, but a bare-knuckle fight against Darren Till makes a lot of sense right now. Till is a free agent, and the people at BKFC have approached him about the fight. This would be a fight that’s 6 years in the making, given their interaction after Till defeated Cowboy Cerrone in 2017.
Why? Danis has become notorious for not showing up to his contracted fights, so a clause in the contract says he’ll have to pay a $100,000 fine if he doesn’t show up to his boxing match against Logan Paul.
Will he show up? There’s still a chance he doesn’t show up even if he has to pay the $100k fine. Danis loves the attention he gets, and he’ll be getting so much of it in the build-up to the fight that he might not care to pay the fine.
The title fights: Cris Cyborg vs. Cat Zingano, Ryan Bader vs. Linton Vassell, Liz Carmouche vs. Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, and Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Brent Primus.
A rumor: There’s a rumor going around that this could be the final Bellator event in history. The promotion is up for sale, so if they’re going out, they’re going out with a bang.
Didn’t Fedor retire? He retired from MMA but still wants to compete in combat sports and has the squared circle on his radar. He told Ariel Helwani that his body is feeling much better since retiring, and he’s confident he can box.
Is this likely? As far as a boxing match against Mike Tyson, probably not. Tyson is 57 years old and looks happily retired. If Fedor wants to box, it’s going to most likely be against someone else.
