Edition 64February 16, 2024

One of the most stacked events in recent memory takes place tonight. Lock in your picks.

1
Dana White Says He'll Announce the UFC 300 Main Event on Saturday.

Why on Saturday? UFC 300 is less than two months away with no confirmed main event. On top of that, the event tickets go on sale on February 21st, meaning this will be the last time Dana can talk to the media before they are released.

Who will it be? There are a few options. Some of the fighters in the mix include Leon Edwards, Belal Muhammad, Israel Adesanya, and Dricus du Plessis. Any combination of these fights could come into place for the UFC 300 main event.

2
Henry Cejudo's Career is on the Line Against Merab Dvalishvili.

Why? At the UFC 298 media day, Cejudo confirmed he'll retire if he loses to Dvalishvili. "Triple C" only wants to fight for gold in the future and came back believing he could make a run at the Bantamweight and Featherweight title. But, with a defeat, he will likely never fight for a title again.

What if he wins? If Cejudo can beat Dvalishvili, he wants to fight the winner of the UFC 299 headliner, Sean O'Malley vs. Marlon Vera. This fight would make sense, as most people believe Dvalishvili to be next in line for a title shot.

3
Jon Jones Was Asked to Headline UFC 300

What happened? During an interview with Submission Radio, Jones confirmed he had received a call from Hunter Campbell asking if he could fight on UFC 300, likely against Stipe Miocic or Tom Aspinall.

What did he say? Although Jones' recovery has been faster than everyone anticipated, Jones told Campbell he only wants to fight when he is "100% ready" and didn't want to risk returning too soon. This means the Heavyweight title will not be on the line at UFC 300.

4
Vicente Luque vs. Joaquin Buckley targeted for Atlantic City.

Details: The #9 ranked Welterweight Vicente Luque will face unranked Joaquin Buckley on March 30th in the UFC Atlantic City co-main event. Originally, Luque was supposed to face Sean Brady, but this bout was canceled due to an injury on Brady's end.

Who's the Main Event? The main event will be a five-round clash between top Flyweights Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fiorot, confirmed by the UFC. Dana White previously announced this would be a title eliminator fight, so the winner will face Alexa Grasso for the Flyweight title.

5
Cain Velasquez's Trial Was Postponed Again

What happened? On Wednesday, Velasquez appeared in court, facing charges for attempted murder on Harry Goularte, who was accused of sexually abusing Velasquez's son. The defense requested more time, and despite objections from the prosecution, the date was pushed back.

What's next? The next hearing will be on April 17th to address unresolved matters. If no further developments are made in the case, and no plea deal is made, the final trial date will be April 24th.

6
Sedriques Dumas Was Arrested for Battery Charges.

Overview: UFC Middleweight Sedriques Dumas was arrested in Florida on February 13th. After a heated argument with the police, Dumas was placed in handcuffs and arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Developments? Per the Escambia County Jail records, Dumas was charged with a felony battery and is scheduled for a court date on March 5th, 2024. He is scheduled to fight Nursulton Ruziboev on March 30th, so it is unknown if this matchup will still go ahead.

7
Dana White Says, "You can't bring Sean Strickland around any humans."

Why? At the Power Slap 6 post-press conference, Dana White spoke to the media. However, one of the highlights from the event had nothing to do with slapping and instead involved former UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland causing chaos in the crowd.

What did Sean do? A better question would be, "What didn't Sean do?" Strickland got up to mayhem over the weekend. He sparred with popular streamer Sneako in an octagon and pummelled him. On top of that, he faced off with Donald Trump and was escorted out of the Power Slap 6 event after arguing with musical artist Machine Gun Kelly. All these events led to White saying Sean doesn't belong around humans.

8
UFC and WWE Promise to Bring 3+ Events Each in Anaheim

Details: In September, the UFC and WWE merged to create the TKO Group, and now have partnered with OC Vibe to bring more events to Anaheim, California. This partnership is the first of its kind since the formation of TKO Group.

The future? Aside from the UFC traveling to Anaheim more often, this could finally be the push to get the UFC traveling again. More deals mean more Fight Night events with crowds instead of inside the UFC Apex.
