Michael Chandler is starting to get impatient waiting for Conor McGregor. Not only is there no date for the fight, McGregor still isn’t even in the USADA pool. He needs to be in the USADA pool for at least 6 months before being eligible to fight in the UFC. If he was to enter the pool today, the earliest he could come back and fight is in November. This fight is far away from being guaranteed to happen.

Henry Cejudo's path to Alex Volkanovski

Henry Cejudo returns from a 3 year absence this weekend to take on Aljamain Sterling for the Bantamweight title he relinquished after defeating Dominick Cruz in 2020. Cejudo has accomplished perhaps what no athlete will ever accomplish again. He won an Olympic Gold Medal at the age of 21 and became a 2 division UFC Champion. He's achieved what no one else will, so why's he back? Cejudo has a clear game plan and it can soon become a reality. He wants to fight Alex Volkanovski for the Featherweight title and become the only fighter in UFC history that's won 3 Championships in 3 weight classes. If he accomplishes that, it's hard to deny him as the greatest competitor in UFC history.

Cejudo spent most of his career in the Flyweight division, which is why he hasn't had many high profile fights. He now returns to Bantamweight, which is regarded as the most stacked division in the UFC. If he defeats Sterling, he has a blockbuster fight against Sean O'Malley lined up next. Winning these back to back fights will likely open up the door to Alex Volkanovski. The first step of the process takes place this weekend.

BKFC had their TUF 1 moment last week

At the end of each Saturday, the combat sports world is usually discussing the UFC. This wasn't the case last week, as the talk of the town was BKFC and the viral moments that took place at the event. It was the most important event in the promotion's history, as they hosted marquee fights, including Mike Perry vs. Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez vs. Chad Mendes. The fight between Alvarez and Mendes is regarded as the best fight in BKFC history, as the two were competitive until the final bell. They scored 2 knockdowns each, including knocking each other down in the final 10 seconds of the fight.

To make the moment even bigger, Conor McGregor showed up to watch his former foes compete. McGregor has always had an affinity towards his former opponents, and that's why he was in the building. It was a competitive fight that left both men bruised and battered, with Alvarez earning a split decision win. Mendes announced his retirement from combat sports after the fight.

The main event saw Mike Perry do serious damage to the face of Luke Rockhold, shattering his teeth. Rockhold told the referee he couldn't continue, and the fight was ruled a TKO win for Perry. It was what happened after the fight that made BKFC the most discussed subject of the night. Perry had a faceoff Conor McGregor which blew up the internet. BKFC and their President David Feldman earned the respect of a lot of fans with the event. It's going to be interesting to see how they carry forward their momentum from this point.
