This weekend, the UFC is back in the Apex from Las Vegas with Welterweights Gabriel Bonfim and Randy Brown squaring off in the main event. Today was media day, and we had the opportunity to hear from the fighters leading into their big matchups.

## Gabriel Bonfim Happy to Share Card With Brother Again

This weekend, Gabriel Bonfim will main event a UFC card for the first time, but first, his brother Ismael will compete on the main card. Bonfim was asked about being on a card with his brother, and he called it a blessing.

The brothers have shared a UFC card in the past, debuting on the same card, with both earning finish victories at UFC 283.

## Randy Brown Not Afraid to Grapple Against Bonfim

When talking about how he wants the fight with Gabriel Bonfim to play out this weekend, Brown made it clear he likes to strike, but he will show Bonfim that he can grapple with him as well.

The UFC is in the Apex for another week, with Gabriel Bonfim and Randy Brown squaring off in the Welterweight main event. I went over the card to give my predictions and bets, including the Underdog Best Bet of the Week, so let's get into it.

## Gabriel Bonfim -204 vs. Randy Brown +165

The main event features two Welterweights looking to establish themselves in the rankings. Gabriel Bonfim is a submission artist with nasty skills on the ground and improving striking, though his cardio remains questionable, especially given that this is five rounds. Randy Brown is a slick-moving striker with good speed and power, though his defense has gotten him into trouble a lot, as he is often clipped for having his hands down.

I'll take Bonfim to get a finish here, as I believe he has a massive advantage on the ground if he can get it there, while also having a chance to catch Brown in the striking with his defensive issues.

**Prediction:** Bonfim by 1st Round Submission

## Matt Schnell +225 vs. Joseph Morales -286

Flyweight finishers test their skills against each other in our co-main event. Matt Schnell is a grappler with solid submission skills, though his durability has been a serious issue, leading to several knockout and submission losses. Joseph Morales comes in off winning the latest season of the Ultimate Fighter and now starts his second UFC run as a strong grappler with a nasty submission game.

I'm going with Morales, as I simply cannot trust Schnell's durability at this point in his career, and Morales has shown solid finishing skills.

**Prediction:** Morales by 1st Round Submission

## Muslim Salikhov +150 vs. Uros Medic -185

Veteran strikers collide in this Welterweight showdown. Muslim Salikhov is a veteran with dangerous power in all his strikes, including boxing and spinning attacks, that he still uses effectively at forty-one years old. Uros Medic is a knockout artist who gets into a lot of fun fights, partially because he also has questionable durability that sees him dropped in fights he should dominate.

I like Medic as the much younger, more athletic fighter here, in a matchup where either man could land a big strike and change things.

**Prediction:** Medic by 1st Round TKO

## Ismael Bonfim -204 vs. Chris Padilla +165

Always exciting, Lightweights go head-to-head in this fun matchup. Ismael Bonfim is a stocky powerhouse with good boxing and strong wrestling, but at times questionable fight IQ. Chris Padilla is a durable finisher who has found ways to come back against James Llontop and Rongzhu on his way to a three-fight win streak to start his run in the UFC.

I took Bonfim to win a decision here, as I feel he is the better striker and wrestler, who will control where the fight takes place and win the minutes against Padilla, who hasn't been finished since 2018, before he took a break and returned as a much-improved fighter.

**Prediction/Bet:** Bonfim by Decision

## Ricky Simon -167 vs. Raoni Barcelos +134

Veteran Bantamweights square off here. Ricky Simon is a strong wrestler coming off back-to-back wins with solid power in his hands, as he showed with his knockout of Javid Basharat. Raoni Barcelos is a tricky veteran with good volume striking and solid grappling, as well, coming off wins over Payton Talbott and Cody Garbrandt.

I lean towards Simon here as he is the more dangerous striker with the wrestling to stay on top or get back to his feet when he wants to.

**Prediction:** Simon by Decision

## Marco Tulio -196 vs. Christian Leroy Duncan +160

Fantastic matchup here between explosive Middleweights to open the main card. Marco Tulio is an aggressive and fun striker who has knocked out his first two UFC opponents in style, putting a bad beating on Tresean Gore in his last fight. Christian Leroy Duncan is an explosive, unorthodox fighter who comes in off a highlight-reel knockout of Eryk Anders.

I'm picking Tulio in this one, as he is the higher-output striker who I believe carries more power in his shots.

**Prediction:** Tulio by Decision

## Jamall Emmers +125 vs. Hyder Amil -154

Dangerous Featherweights looking to put on a show collide in this one. Jamall Emmers is a long striker who uses his reach well and has ended two of his last three fights with a first-round knockout win, although his performances can be inconsistent at times. Hyder Amil is an all-out brawler who throws high volume and stands in the pocket to try and break opponents, although he is coming off a first-round knockout loss.

I've got Emmers here as he holds a significant reach advantage, which I believe he will use to keep Amil at a distance and piece him up. With that, Jamall Emmers is this week's Underdog Best Bet of the Week.

**Prediction:** Emmers by 1st Round TKO **Bet:** Emmers MoneyLine

## Mayra Bueno Silva +205 vs. Jacqueline Cavalcanti -263

Bantamweights looking to push their way up in the division meet in this prelim matchup. Mayra Bueno Silva is a dangerous submission grappler who has previously challenged for the title, though she is low-output and has questionable cardio. Jacqueline Cavalcanti is a kickboxer who has won her first four fights with the UFC, showing good defensive movement. 

I lean towards Cavalcanti here, as unless Bueno Silva gets a submission, I believe she would need two rounds of ground control to get the win, which I find unlikely.

**Prediction:** Cavalcanti by Decision

## Josh Hokit -400 vs. Max Gimenis +300

Debuting Heavyweights square off here, looking to start their UFC run with a win. Josh Hokit is a wrestler who grinds down opponents with control time and some ground-and-pound. Max Gimenis is a credentialed grappler who has transitioned to MMA.

I'm picking Hokit as he is the better wrestler, which leads me to believe he will control where the fight takes place, but at these odds, I caution against betting him or adding him into parlays, as he is very unproven.

**Prediction:** Hokit by 3rd Round TKO

## Tecia Pennington +155 vs. Denise Gomes -192

Strawweight clash here, looking to extend their win streaks. Tecia Pennington is a high-paced striker who has competed with many of the best in the division over the years, including a split decision against current champion Mackenzie Dern. Denis Gomes is a powerful fighter for the division who has won five of her last six, most recently knocking out Elise Reed.

I'll go with the younger and more dangerous fighter here in Gomes, as with an eleven-year age gap, I see Pennington having a tough time with the physicality.

**Prediction:** Gomes by Decision

## Miles Johns +141 vs. Daniel Marcos -175

Fun one here at Bantamweight. Miles Johns is a stocky fighter with solid boxing and strong wrestling, though he can be low-output at times. Daniel Marcos is a skilled kickboxer who comes in off his first career loss in a competitive fight, where he showed he can mix in his wrestling at times as well.

I lean towards Marcos here as he is the longer fighter who mixes up his weapons slightly better.

**Prediction:** Marcos by Decision

Featherweights who know how to put on a show face off here in our main event. Steve Garcia is a hard-hitting brawler with fast hands and sharp boxing, though he takes shots without much concern for defence, which has led to him being knocked out in the past. David Onama is a powerful striker who has shown he can dig deep in tough fights and come out on top, using his grappling as well.

I'm going with Onama to get a knockout win in this one, as he is the more powerful and durable fighter, available at an underdog price in a very volatile matchup.

**Prediction:** Onama by 2nd Round KO **Bet:** Onama by TKO/KO

## Waldo Cortes-Acosta +112 vs. Ante Delija -137

Dangerous Heavyweights looking to push into the title picture collide here. Waldo Cortes-Acosta is a durable boxer with swings big with his right hand, although his technique and volume are lacking. Ante Delija is a former PFL champion who burst into the UFC with a first-round knockout of Marcin Tybura, showing his fast hands and serious power.

I like Delija in this one, as I see him as the much more aggressive fighter with faster hands and cleaner punching mechanics.

**Prediction:** Deija by Decision

## Jeremiah Wells +114 vs. Themba Gorimbo -139

Veteran Welterweights square off, looking to get back into the win column. Jeremiah Wells is an explosive athlete with solid power and wrestling, although he leaves himself open to getting hit and struggles to find consistent offence. Themba Gorimbo is a long fighter with a solid clinch game, although he has struggled against tougher competition.

I'll pick Wells as he is the much more dangerous fighter and is explosive enough to give Gorimbo trouble holding him in the clinch.

**Prediction:** Wells by 1st Round KO

## Isaac Dulgarian -250 vs. Yadier del Valle +195

Very intriguing matchup here between upcoming prospects at Featherweight. Isaac Dulgarian is a dominant wrestler with strong submission skills and damaging ground-and-pound, though cardio is a slight concern. Yadier del Valle is an undefeated fighter with a well-rounded game that features sharp kickboxing and dangerous ground skills, though he has yet to face tough competition.

I took Dulgarian to get a finish, as he has shown his skills on the ground can give anyone trouble early, and he is only going to continue to get better with more fights in the UFC.

**Prediction:** Dulgarian by 1st Round TKO

## Charles Radtke -172 vs. Daniel Frunza +141

Good matchup of strikers in this one at Welterweight. Charles Radtke is a brawler with decent boxing, though his defence and durability have given him issues, resulting in two knockout losses in the UFC. Daniel Frunza is a dangerous finisher who is looking to bounce back after losing his UFC debut in a blood bath against Rhys McKee.

I lean towards Radtke here as he has shown he can win at this level, although he has been inconsistent and is coming off a knockout loss.

**Prediction:** Radtke by 3rd Round TKO

## Allan Nascimento -303 vs. Cody Durden +240

Grapplers square off to open the main card here at Flyweight. Allan Nascimento is a slick submission grappler who does well to control his opponents when he is in a good position, as he did to Jafel Filho his last time out. Cody Durden is a high-paced wrestler who is also active with his striking, though durability has been an issue at times.

I'll go with Nascimento to get a submission in this one, as we have seen Durden get caught in submissions several times by less dangerous grapplers.

**Prediction:** Nascimento by 2nd Round Submission

## Kevin Christian +215 vs. Billy Elekana -270

Light Heavyweights are set to collide here in the featured prelim. Kevin Christian makes his UFC debut here after over a year away following his impressive submission win on Dana White's Contender Series. Billy Elekana is a well-rounded fighter who showed some wrestling in his debut against Bogdan Guskov, then earned his first UFC win in a striking bout against Ibo Aslan.

I'm picking Elekana here, as he has the experience and a style that can match Christian anywhere and defend his submissions.

**Prediction:** Elekana by 1st Round TKO

## Timmy Cuamba -119 vs. Chang Ho Lee -103

Bantamweights, each coming off a knockout victory, face off in this one. Timmy Cuamba is a technically sound striker with decent wrestling who comes down in weight for the second time in his UFC run, although he can be low-output at times. Chang Ho Lee is a strong wrestler with a high-paced style coming off his first UFC win, where he used his ground and pound to get the stoppage over Cortavious Romious.

I like Cumaba in this one as he is the cleaner striker with a game-rounded enough to compete anywhere the fight goes.

**Prediction:** Cuamba by Decision

## Donte Johnson -357 vs. Sedriques Dumas +270

Finishers square off in this good matchup at Middleweight. Donte Johnson makes his UFC debut here, two weight classes down from where he fought on Dana White's Contender Series and earned his sixth career first-round knockout in his sixth fight. Sedriques Dumas is a long kickboxer who has rounded out his game during his time in the UFC, earning wins over Cody Brundage and Denis Tiuliulin through wrestling.

I'm taking Dumas at these odds as he has much more MMA experience, having fought more UFC fights than Johnson has overall, with many of them extending past the first round, which Johnson has never done as a professional. With that, Sedriques Dumas is this week's Underdog Best Bet of the Week.

**Prediction:** Dumas by Decision **Bet:** Dumas Moneyline

## Ketlen Viera +135 vs. Norma Dumont -167

Veteran Bantamweights look to push closer to the top of the division here. Ketlen Viera is a solid kickboxer who has competed with many of the best in the division, including champion Kayla Harrison. Norma Dumont is a boxer with decent power who comes in having won five straight, most recently against former title challenger Irene Aldana.

I lean towards Viera as the slight underdog here, as she has faced tougher competition throughout her career.

**Prediction:** Viera by Decision

## Montserrat Ruiz +300 vs. Alice Ardelean -400

Intriguing matchup here at Strawweight. Montserrat Ruiz is a tough and tricky grappler who is small even for this division and has now lost three straight fights by TKO. Alice Ardelean is a solid wrestler who comes in off her first UFC win earlier this year, a decision over Rayanne dos Santos.

I'll go with Ardelean here, as she has shown improvement in her grappling, while Ruiz has not had much success at this level of competition.

**Prediction:** Ardelean by Decision

## Phil Rowe +155 vs. Seok Hyeon Ko -192

Fun matchup between Welterweights here on the prelims. Phil Rowe is a tall and long striker who has finished all four of his UFC wins by knockout. Seok Hyeon Ko is a well-rounded fighter coming off an impressive debut win over Oban Elliott, during which he showcased his wrestling by controlling the fight on the ground.

I'm picking Ko to get a decision here, as we have seen Rowe controlled on the ground, and Ko has shown the ability to mix up his game to get the win.

**Prediction:** Ko by Decision

## Talita Alencar -233 vs. Ariane Carnelossi +185

Strawweights looking to build some momentum open the card up here. Talita Alencar is a dangerous grappler with good takedowns and top control, although her cardio has let her down in past fights. Ariane Carnelossi is a strong and powerful striker with questionable grappling skills.

I lean toward Alencar, as I feel she will be able to get the fight to the ground and control Carnelossi without much resistance, or submit her.

**Prediction:** Alencar by Decision

The UFC returns this weekend with a fight night card headlined by a Featherweight matchup between Steve Garcia and David Onama from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Today was media day, and we had the opportunity to hear from the fighters before they compete. 

## Steve Garcia Ready To Stand and Bang In First Main Event

Garcia was asked what he thought about his opponent, David Onama, saying he wouldn't grapple, and in response, he said he can't think about those comments and has to be ready for anything.

Garcia is coming into this one on a six-fight win streak, looking to make a statement in his first UFC main event.

## David Onama Not Planning to Grapple Steve Garcia

When asked about the possibility of mixing in some takedowns this weekend in his main event matchup with Steve Garcia, Onama made it clear he wants to strike.

The UFC returns to PPV this weekend with a loaded card headlined by Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall taking on challenger Ciryl Gane, along with a vacant Strawweight title fight between Virna Jandiroba and Mackenzie Dern in the co-main event. I went over the entire card to give my predictions and bets, including the Underdog Best Bet of the Week, so let's get into it.

## Tom Aspinall -357 vs. Ciryl Gane +300

The much-anticipated clash for the undisputed Heavyweight championship goes down here in the main event. Tom Aspinall is an incredibly fast guy for his size, with a well-rounded skill set that has seen him finish all his UFC bouts in under two rounds, via a mix of knockouts and submissions. Ciryl Gane is a slick striker with phenomenal movement and timing, though he lacks finishing ability and has struggled when forced to grapple against guys like Jon Jones, Francis Ngannou, and, more recently, Alexander Volkov.

I've got Aspinall to defend his title here, as his advantage on the ground is evident, and he has the striking to end the fight there as well.

**Prediction:** Aspinall by 1st Round Submission

## Virna Jandiroba +136 vs. Mackenzie Dern -154

The vacant Strawweight title will be claimed here in our co-main event. Virna Jandiroba is a dominant grappler who has used her skills on the ground to win her last five fights, most recently a decision over former title challenger Xiaonan Yan. Mackenzie Dern is an aggressive and dangerous submission artist with improved striking, though her defence isn't the best, leaving her vulnerable against harder hitters.

I lean towards Dern here, as she is the higher-volume striker who maintains a higher output while having a ground game, which will make it difficult for Jandiroba to get the control time she usually does.

**Prediction:** Dern by Decision

## Umar Nurmagomedov -667 vs. Mario Bautista +520

Top Bantamweights square off in this high-stakes clash. Umar Nurmagomedov is a skilled fighter with a strong kicking game and high-level wrestling, which helped him give the champion, Merab Dvalishvili, a close fight by winning the early rounds. Mario Bautista is a pressure fighter with excellent conditioning and good fight IQ, as shown by his ability to use his wrestling and striking in different matchups based on his opponent's skill set.

These odds are steep, but I have a hard time going against Nurmagomedov here as I believe he will have the advantage wherever the fight plays out, and I don't see cardio being an issue with this only being a three-rounder.

**Prediction:** Nurmagomedov by Decision

## Alexander Volkov +175 vs. Jailton Almeida -200

A pivotal matchup here could determine the next title challenger at Heavyweight. Alexander Volkov is a tall guy, even for this weight, with good striking and an improved ground game, as he showed in his rematch with Ciryl Gane, which he lost in a highly controversial decision. Jailton Almeida is a dangerous grappler with an exceptional ability to get to top position and maintain it, or to work for a submission, even against skilled grapplers, although his durability remains a major concern.

I like Almeida here, as although Volkov has improved his ground game, we have seen Almeida take down credentialed grapplers before, and I see him getting enough control to win a decision. Volkov has only been submitted once since 2010, which makes me lean away from that as Almeida's path to victory.

## Aleksandar Rakic -111 vs. Azamat Murzakanov -102

Powerful Light Heavyweight strikers collide to open the main card. Aleksandar Rakic is a skilled kickboxer who has faced many of the best in the division while holding his own, showing good speed and technique, though he can be low-output at times, especially later in fights. Azamat Murzakanov is an explosive knockout puncher with an undefeated record, having ended four of his five UFC outings by knockout.

I'll go with Murzakanov here as he is the more dangerous fighter with more momentum behind him, and Rakic hasn't looked the same since dealing with injuries.

**Prediction:** Murzakanov by 2nd Round TKO

## Nasrat Haqparast -102 vs. Quillan Salkilld -111

Short-notice meeting between Lightweight strikers here. Nasrat Haqparast is a tough boxer who keeps a high pace and has solid power, as he showed with his first-round knockout of Jamie Mullarkey. Quillan Salkilld is a long striker with solid wrestling who is coming off a fight with Yanal Ashmouz, in which he took a few big shots late in the fight.

I'll take Salkilld in this one, as he is the slightly longer, younger fighter who is still improving and has grappling upside.

**Prediction:** Salkilld by Decision

## Ikram Aliskerov -217 vs. Jun Yong Park +190

Well-rounded Middleweights go head-to-head in this one. Ikram Aliskerov is a dangerous finisher who has had all four of his UFC fights end in the first round, although one is a knockout loss to Robert Whittaker on short notice. Jun Yong Park is a veteran with good boxing and strong wrestling, which he has used to win six of his last seven fights.

I'm picking Aliskerov, with him fighting in familiar territory with a much more dangerous game and a skill set that can match Park anywhere he wants to take the fight.

**Prediction:** Aliskerov by 2nd Round TKO

## Mateusz Rebecki +118 vs. Ludovit Klein -133

Fun matchup here between exciting Lightweights, each looking to bounce back. Mateusz Rebecki is a powerful, explosive finisher who is very durable, though he often finds himself in wars where he takes unnecessary damage. Ludovit Klein is a fast kickboxer who can mix in solid offensive wrestling, though Mateusz Gamrot controlled him in their last fight.

I like Rebecki in this one, as he is the much more aggressive fighter with more power in his hands and a more dangerous ground game. With that, Mateusz Rebecki is this week's Underdog Best Bet of the Week.

## Valter Walker -385 vs. Louie Sutherland +320

Short notice matchup here between Heavyweights. Valter Walker is a tricky guy for the division, with his slick grappling and now-signature heel hook, which he has used to finish three straight fights. Louie Sutherland is an athletic striker who uses a lot of kicks at range, although he has yet to face much tough competition.

This is a tough matchup for Sutherland, given the lack of proper camp, which I believe will lead to another submission victory for Walker.

## Jose Delgado -143 vs. Nathaniel Wood +127

Incredible prelim matchup here between talented Featherweights. Jose Delgado is a deadly striker who has finished both of his UFC wins in the first round by knockout. Nathaniel Wood is a fast striker with crisp boxing, though his durability is a concern, as he often gets clipped and dropped.

I'm taking Delgado here, as he is the bigger, more powerful fighter whose durability I trust more.

**Prediction:** Delgado by 2nd Round TKO

## Chris Barnett +420 vs. Hamdy Abdelwahab -526

A wild entertainer returns in this one at Heavyweight. Chris Barnett is one of the most unique fighters in the UFC, with his large build and ability to deliver fast-spinning kicks, though his age and physical limitations are concerning. Hamdy Abdelwahab is a strong wrestler with solid boxing skills, though he is hittable and tends to slow down. 

I'll go with Abdelwahab here, as he is the younger fighter who's been more active.

**Prediction:** Abdelwahab by Decision

## Azat Maksum -500 vs. Mitch Raposo +420

Fun matchup here at Flyweight. Azat Maksum is a sharp striker with good scrambling ability on the ground, which he showed against Tagir Ulanbekov. Mitch Raposo is a wrestler who has struggled to find his footing in the UFC due to his lack of striking threat.

I like Maksum in this one, as he has the skills to defend the grappling and force a striking match where he has a clear advantage, especially in power.

**Prediction:** Maksum by Decision

## Jaqueline Amorim -435 vs. Mizuki Inoue +360

Strawweight grapplers open the card in this intriguing matchup. Jaqueline Amorim is a dangerous submission grappler who has overcome early-career cardio issues and is now coming off four straight finishes. Mizuki Inoue returns here after a two-year layoff, looking to resume activity as a solid wrestler with some submission threat shown before the UFC.

I have to pick Amorim here, as she has a lot of momentum; meanwhile, Inoue has only fought once in the last five years, with a relatively unimpressive showing.
