Payton Talbott🇺🇸 (9-1) presses forward to control the pace in the stand-up, minimize opponents counters, and establish his jab, which he uses heavily to set up the rest of his offense. He uses high volume combinations that include accurate straight punches, hooks, uppercuts, body shots, elbows, knees, body kicks, and low kicks to break his opponents down. The holes I see are in his head movement, kick defense, and that his boxing reliant style has left him open to takedowns like in his last fight. Payton doesn't have great takedown defense and hasn't been submitted but has been put into bad positions multiple times. He tries to stand up through athleticism, but a fighter with good top control can hold him down. When on top or after knocking someone down he has great ground & pound. Felipe Lima🇧🇷 (14-1) comes forward with a high guard and looks to overwhelm opponents with jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts, body shots, elbows, knees, low kicks, body kicks, and high kicks that are accompanied by his solid footwork and head movement. For a grappler, I'm impressed with how effective he is in the pocket and with his counter striking. He initiates the grappling by using trips, the clinch with underhooks, overhooks, and shooting single leg and double leg takedowns. Once down, Lima either attempts to scramble to the back or stays in top positions like full mount or side control. My pick is Lima (RD2 SUB/DEC).
