UFC Bantamweight fighter Kyler "The Matrix" Phillips has failed a drug test for the banned substance ostarine and has been suspended for one year. He has not fought since February 2021, and his inactive streak will persist for longer.

Phillips, who's 4-1 inside the UFC, is an exciting fighter who's already secured three performance bonuses across five bouts. His notable victories come over Song Yadong and Marcelo Rojo, and he also has a thrilling fight of the night decision loss to Raulian Paiva.

Over a dozen UFC fighters had tested positive for ostarine before, including Phillips's close teammate and training partner, the #2 ranked Bantamweight "Sugar" Sean O'Malley. His reasoning for the positive test was that he was taking a contaminated supplement, which was revealed to be genuine post-investigation.
