The main event featured former title challenger Thiago Santos vs. Magomed Ankalaev. Santos was looking to rebound after recent losses to Jon Jones and Aleksandar Rakic, as well as a submission loss to Glover Teixeira, while Ankalaev entered on a lengthy unbeaten run following the lone loss of his career to Paul Craig in his UFC debut.
