Alexander Volkanovski, despite a close loss to Islam Makhachev, was at the peak of his fame and career, but had to face crafty striker Yair Rodriguez to earn another crack at the Lightweight title. Alexandre Pantoja also looked to move to 3-0 against Brandon Moreno, who had just reclaimed the Flyweight title for a second time against Deiveson Figueiredo.
