UFC 23: Ultimate Japan 2

November 18, 1999Tokyo Bay NK Hall · Tokyo

The event marked the UFC’s second appearance in Japan, taking place as PRIDE was establishing itself as the country’s dominant MMA promotion. It was headlined by Kevin Randleman defeating Pete Williams to claim the vacant Heavyweight Championship after Bas Rutten’s retirement. The card also included a four-man tournament to crown a UFC Japan Champion and stands as the final one-night tournament in UFC history. It was also the first UFC event not to receive a home video release, as SEG neared bankruptcy.
