The event featured what is widely considered the biggest upset in UFC history, as Matt Serra, an 11 to 1 betting underdog, knocked out Georges St Pierre to win the Welterweight Championship and end St Pierre’s first title reign. The loss ultimately became the final defeat of St Pierre’s career. It also marked the UFC’s first event in Texas.
