The season featured an all-Lightweight tournament coached by Jens Pulver and B.J. Penn, setting up their long-awaited rematch five years after Penn's first career loss. Nate Diaz won the tournament after Manny Gamburyan dislocated his shoulder in the final. Penn also ubmitted Pulver in the main event, avenging his defeat.
