A Light Heavyweight main event between former champion Chuck Liddell and Keith Jardine headlined the card, resulting in a split decision upset. Despite the event subtitle “Knockout,” the card produced no knockout finishes. The event also marked the UFC debut of PRIDE legend Maurício "Shogun" Rua, who entered the promotion widely regarded by pundits as the best Light Heavyweight in the world.
