Norbert Novenyi Jr. vs Theo Haig

Both guys start off calm and at a steady pace but explode in shorts flurries. Neither guy seems too confident or eager to move forward. Degli gets a fairly easy takedown off a nice shot early. He slowly grinds himself forward, Moran is not urgent enough to deter Degli’s grappling and almost lets him get a guillotine. Degli does a nice job staying active and dangerous while retaining good positions. Moran does well to stay calm and safe. For some reason he just stands with Degli on his back for a long time without really trying to escape. Neither guy looks very confident going into the second. Degli tries to get his grappling off but Moran reverses and controls Degli on the fence before being reversed himself. They break and once again I don’t see enough drive and desire to get a finish. Degli gets a nice little takedown and Moran finds himself standing again with Degli on his back. We’ve spent 5x more time in this standing back triangle than any other fight I’ve seen. There’s more urgency from Moran to escape and Degli to finish. Moran lands some nice strikes from the back while holding the hand of Moran and attempts many rear naked chokes. Eventually Degli gets one arm in very deep and fights the hands away long enough to get the tap. Good win for Degli and a tough loss for Moran.
