The UFC is bringing a stacked card of pay-per-view action to Miami, Florida, this weekend, headlined by Bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley -275 seeking revenge against Marlon "Chito" Vera +235. This card is loaded with action from top to bottom, so I went over every fight and gave my predictions and best bets; so, let's get into it.

## Sean O'Malley -275 vs. Marlon Vera +235

The score will finally be settled here as these two Bantamweight rivals rematch with a belt on the line this time. Sean O'Malley has risen to become one of the biggest stars in the sport, using his very technical and powerful striking skills, although some questions about his durability remain. Marlon "Chito" Vera is a dangerous finisher, taking his time to find the right opportunity to go for the kill; the problem is he often loses minutes of fights, being the lower-volume guy. 

I took O'Malley to win a decision here as I see him as the much cleaner and higher-output striker who will land harder and more often. However, I don't see Vera being finished with his insane durability, so I'll take the decision to get some value. 

Pick: O'Malley O/U: Over 4.5 -155

## Dustin Poirier +170 vs. Benoit Saint-Denis -200

Two of the sport's most thrilling fighters will collide in this five-round co-main event at Lightweight. Dustin Poirier is a veteran brawler with incredible boxing combos, although he has been taken down, controlled, or submitted several times over his career. Benoit Saint-Denis takes another step up in competition here after showing his knockout power against Matt Frevola with a first-round knockout; he also has a phenomenal ground game with powerful wrestling and good submissions. 

I took Saint-Denis early at -150, where I felt there was value in him being the much younger fighter with the grappling upside. If you want to get my early plays, make sure to follow me on social media, where I post all my bets when they are made. 

Pick: Saint-Denis O/U: Over 1.5 -225

## Kevin Holland -132 vs. Michael Page +112

The much-anticipated debut of a fan favorite from outside the UFC is here at Welterweight. Kevin Holland is a tall and long striker with good power and a great chin; sometimes, he doesn't push the pace as I would like him to, and he rarely uses his solid grappling attack. Michael "Venom" Page debuts here with his hands-down striking style, which can be trouble for many opponents to deal with; he is now entering his late thirtiees, which is a slight concern.  

I lean towards Holland here as I give him the durability edge in what will likely be a very close striking match, but I'll pass on this one from a betting perspective. 

Pick: Holland O/U: Over 2.5 -180

## Gilbert Burns +144 vs. Jack Della Maddalena -164

It is another big test for a highly touted prospect here at Welterweight. Gilbert Burns returns from his injury here looking to re-establish himself as a top contender with dangerous power in his punches and a world-class submission game, although after some time away, there are concerns with age and potential durability. Jack Della Maddalena has quickly risen to the UFC ranks with his fantastic boxing, which he has used to start his UFC career with six straight wins, although he has been caught in some very bad positions in the grappling both in the UFC and during his fight on Dana White's Contender Series.

I'll take Burns here. I believe he will look to get this one to the ground early and often and will eventually snatch up a submission victory. 

Pick: Burns O/U: Over 1.5 -220

## Petr Yan -113 vs. Song Yadong -107

The main card opens with this must-see clash at Bantamweight. Petr Yan is one of the best strikers in the UFC, with very accurate hands, the ability to mix in a great kick attack, and an underrated ground game. Song Yadong is a very technical boxer with big power in his hands; he is rather hittable, but he has a great chin to make up for that.

I've got Yan here as he is still one of the best fighters in the world despite the rough streak, and he will prove that here by outstriking the talented Yadong to a decision win.

Pick: Yan O/U: Over 2.5 -275

## Curtis Blaydes -108 vs. Jailton Almeida -112

Heavyweight grapplers will collide in this one. Curtis Blaydes has been one of the best wrestlers at Heavyweight for some time, consistently showing the ability to takedown and control very large opponents; he also has decent hands, but his durability is a concern in the striking. Jailton Almeida is an extremely athletic grappler with very good submission skills for his size, although he is not very big for a Heavyweight.

I lean towards Almeida here, but this is a very difficult fight for me to get a strong read on. I am unsure about Almeida's striking defense or Blaydes' wrestling defense, so I will enjoy this one as a fan.

Pick: Almeida O/U: Under 1.5 +115

## Kaytln Cerminara +170 vs. Maycee Barber -200

Top contenders look to take another step towards the title in this crucial matchup at Flyweight. Kaytln Cerminara returns here, having spent years near the top of the division with her solid kickboxing attack, which depends on her using length to keep opponents at a distance and keep pressure on them. Maycee Barber looks to extend her five-fight win streak here after violently finishing Amanda Ribas her last time out, showing her power and aggressive style. 

At these odds, I'll go with Cerminara to get a decision. This will be a close fight if she can show up anywhere near the form she was in before her layoff.

Pick: Cerminara O/U: Over 2.5 -350

## Mateusz Gamrot -455 vs. Rafael dos Anjos +355

Lightweight grapplers will compete in this interesting matchup. Mateusz Gamrot is a very fast-paced wrestler with fantastic chain wrestling, decent striking, and a great chin. Rafael dos Anjos was once the champion of this division and has maintained a well-rounded game capable of competing with high-level competition for a very long time. 

I'll go with Gamrot to take a decision here as he will be the much higher pace fighter, and at his age, dos Anjos cannot keep up enough to make it close. 

Pick: Gamrot O/U: Over 2.5 -300

## Pedro Munhoz +180 vs. Kyler Phillips -210

It's a big test for an exciting Bantamweight looking to move into top contention against a veteran contender. Pedro Munhoz has been a top Bantamweight for a long time, with his signature calf kick and insane durability, having never been finished in his long career. Kyler Phillips is a long striker with a good kick game and solid submissions, although he can slow down as fights progress as he throws with a lot of power.

I like Phillips to win a decision, as he can use his length to keep Pedro at range and outland him over three rounds. 

Pick: Phillips O/U: Over 2.5 -285

## Michel Pereira -145 vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk +125

This is a fantastic matchup of Middleweight strikers who have found their correct weight class. Michel Pereira is a crazy striker who throws wild, often ineffective techniques, but he possesses real and dangerous power. Michal Oleksiejczuk is a big puncher who has three first-round knockouts in four Middleweight fights, although he has struggled against opponents with good grappling. 

I'll pick Oleksiehczuk, but he has made some concerning comments about his training camp that give me slight concerns that he is not taking this fight as seriously as he needs to, so I will pass betting-wise.

Pick: Pereira O/U: Over 1.5 -170

## Philipe Lins +113 vs. Ion Cutelaba -133

Light Heavyweight finishers will look to finally face off after being canceled the last time they were booked. Philipe Lins has won three straight since moving down in weight, having looked in tremendous shape. Ion Cutelaba is a wild finisher with big power and a solid ground game, although he is often reckless, and it can cost him. 

I lean with Lins to get the finish, as he has looked great since moving down, but his age is a concern, especially against a dangerous opponent like Cutelaba. 

Pick: Lins O/U: Under 2.5

## Robelis Despaigne -326 vs. Josh Parisian +251

This is the debut of a very intriguing Heavyweight prospect. Robelis Despaigne is a gigantic former Olympic bronze medalist in taekwondo; he is coming in with three knockouts in a combined nineteen seconds, showing insane power. Josh Parisian has been around for a bit in the UFC and has never managed to impress with any of his showings, having been finished by very low-level opponents before. 

Despaigne likely makes easy work of this one, but with the pricing, I'll pass on betting on him until he gets more experience at this level. 

Pick: Despaigne O/U: Under 1.5 -260

## CJ Vergara +425 vs. Asu Almabaev -575

This is another test for an up-and-coming Flyweight as he takes on a tough veteran. CJ Vergara enters this one having won three of his last four, showing his toughness and ability to grind out difficult wins as he has against Daniel Lacerda and Kleydson Rodrigues. Asu Almabaev looks to extend his fourteen-fight win streak here in his second UFC appearance after choking out Ode Osbourne in his debut. 

I like Almabaev here as I see him having success with the grappling, as Vergara often allows himself to be put into very bad positions.

Pick: Almabaev O/U: Under 2.5 -115

## Joanne Wood +184 vs. Maryna Moroz -214

Experienced Flyweights open the card, looking to prove they can still compete at the highest level. Joanne Wood has competed with many of the best in the division and has struggled recently with her now getting up in age; she does good work with her striking and clinch game. Maryna Moroz returns here, having had some trouble staying consistently active in the past and now coming off back-to-back losses, although she has shown a high level of skill before holding a win over recent Bantamweight title challenger Mayra Bueno Silva.

I'll pick Moroz as I believe she has more left in the tank than Wood, but it's tough to back her at this price when she hasn't been active or won fights.

Michael “Venom” Page was born in London, England on April 7th, 1987. Involved in martial arts practically from birth; his parents were Lau Gar Kung Fu practitioners. Raised among nine siblings, his father began training him at just three years old. Page competed in his first kickboxing tournament at age five, and he’d go on to win his first kickboxing world championship at 12. He’d then enter his first adult tournament at 13, ultimately going on to win ten world championships, as well as being crowned the British champion over 25 times. While he realized fantastic success as a kickboxer, he grew tired of a lack of exposure and the politics at work within many major kickboxing associations. These issues would lead Page to transition to MMA in 2011.

## MMA Beginnings

Interestingly, he nearly ended up training at American Top Team, having a sibling living in Miami, but ultimately chose London Shootfighters. He rapidly expanded his abilities and made his MMA debut in 2012 against Ben Dishman. Page would instantly launch into internet virality, scoring a tornado kick knockout within the first two minutes of the bout. With this clip scattered across the internet, he’d earn comparisons to Anderson Silva in his very first MMA outing. After scoring another two impressive victories on the regional scene, he’d gain the attention of Bellator MMA. Although Page made his Bellator debut in 2013, scoring a ten-second KO victory, he wouldn’t be exclusively under contract with them until 2014.

Early in his career, an odd trend began that followed him throughout his Bellator tenure: fight cancellations and replacement opponents. In 2015, he’d fight Charlie Ontiveros on three weeks' notice after having four separate opponents pull out for various reasons. Page would have over seven bouts canceled in the following years, along with numerous reschedulings. These problems would also contribute to the reputation he had earned as a “can crusher,” someone who only fights people far below their skill level. While many of the poor matchups he received weren’t under his control, it’s hard to dispute the records of his opponents; Evangelista Santos has a record of 21-18, and Fernando Lopez holds a record of 29-20. 

## The Later Years

He’d finally break free of the “can crusher” stigma when he was matched up with former UFC and Strikeforce title contender Paul Daley. By far the highest profile bout of Page’s career, they’d face off in the quarterfinal round of the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix. Called the “biggest fight in Bellator history,” fans would unfortunately be disappointed. While both men were known for their striking prowess, the fight would primarily play out on the ground, with Page earning a unanimous decision victory. Following this, he’d face the toughest test of his career in Douglas Lima. Despite some early success, he’d suffer a brutal knockout, ending his undefeated streak. Surprisingly, though, this seemed to benefit Page, and he’s gone 7-1 since the loss and earned his loss back, defeating Douglas Lima via split decision in 2021.

He’s known for his wild striking style, constantly spinning, jumping, and throwing highly unorthodox attacks. Always coming forward with his hands down, he’ll continuously switch stances and look to counter his opponent. Holding significant power in both his punches and kicks, predicting his next move is impossible. Page has arguably the most diverse kicking arsenal in MMA, backed by phenomenal footwork and distance management. He has a penchant for walk-off knockouts, often putting his opponent out with one shot and casually walking away. Page has proven to be one of the most consistently entertaining fighters, regardless of his opponent. 

This upcoming Saturday, he will make his long-awaited UFC debut against fan-favorite Kevin Holland. A fantastic stylistic matchup, Page has an opportunity to show UFC fans what he’s all about. His brash trash talk, cocky attitude, and flashy style could easily project him to a similar status he found in Bellator. Regardless of the outcome this weekend, he will always be known as one of the most skillful, technical kickboxers ever seen in MMA.

_Round 1:_     

Heavy low kicks start the round for both men. Radzhabov lets his hands go against the fence, but Al-Selwady reverses the position and gets the double underhooks. Radzhabov lands a huge left hand that drops Al-Selwady, followed by some heavy ground and pound. It looks like a finish is near; however, Al-Selwady survives. Referee Chris Tognoni offers a stern warning to both men for grabbing the fence. Al-Selwady lands a big shot in the closing round to even the score. Round 1 is close; however, I believe Radzhabov got the edge.      

**10-9 Radzhabov in the first.**     

_Round 2:_     

Al-Selwady lands a huge overhand as Radzhabov is airborne a minute into the round. Al-Selwady looks much better in this second round and scores a big takedown with a minute to go in the round. Al-Selwady holds Radzhabov in half guard and wins the round.     

**10-9 Al-Selwady in the second.**     

_Round 3:_     

Radzhabov attempts to take revenge with a quick takedown attempt; however fails. Radzhabov lands a colossal shot less than a minute into the round and rains down some brutal ground and pound that puts Al-Selwady out.

Klein's striking looks incredible right off the bat. His speed is one of the best in the division. Cunningham looks like he's keen to stand and trade with Klein. Klein's shot selection is like no other. Klein lands an emphatic head kick followed by some punches and a front kick to the body, which drops Cunningham to his knees and scores Klein the TKO victory.

## Christian Leroy Duncan vs. Cláudio Ribeiro

Duncan opens the round with flowy striking techniques, and Ribeiro walks him down with his guard up. The two men both let their hands go in the middle of the round, with screams from the Ribeiro corner saying "e agora," which translates to "and now." The round closes with a clear edge to Duncan.

_Round 2:_     

Duncan scores a takedown one minute into round 2 and quickly takes the mount. Duncan rains down the ground and pound, resulting in a TKO victory.

## Aiemann Zahabi vs. Javid Basharat       

**Result:** Aiemann Zahabi def. Javid Basharat by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28.)     
 **Division:** Bantamweight (135 lbs)      
**Referee:** Chris Tognoni     

_Round 1:_     

Zahabi throws a right hand that glances off Basharat one minute in. Basharat's angles are a sight to behold; however, Zahabi is fighting an intelligent fight with damaging low kicks. Round 1 features more feeling out, but Basharat takes it.          

**10-9 Basharat in the first.**     

_Round 2:_

Basharat is landing slick shots and getting out just in time for Zahabi's counters. Zahabi does well when he makes it into a brawl. Commentator Jon Anik mentions the significant strike numbers are tightening up. Zahabi lands a massive right hand in the closing seconds and drops Basharat to a knee, which secures him the round.     

**10-9 Zahabi in the second.**    

_Round 3:_
 

Basharat doesn't look damaged after the shot he took in the previous round and is back to fighting smart at a distance. Zahabi lands a head kick with 90 seconds to go, and Zahabi does not give Basharat a second to breathe. Zahabi steals round 3 and potentially the fight.

## Vinicius Oliveira vs. Bernardo Sopaj

_Round 1:_     

Sopaj looks quick in the opening round. Sopaj lands some powerful shots that don't seem to hurt Oliveira. Oliveira rushes in and gets taken down. They return to their feet and trade shots; however, Oliveira's leg kicks look the most damaging. Sopaj scores another takedown and holds Oliveira on the ground for the remainder of the round.    

**10-9 Sopaj in the first.**

_Round 2:_     

Sopaj earns another takedown 30 seconds in and takes the back of Oliveira. Sopaj flattens Oliveira out and peppers with ground and pound. Sopaj is ruthless, wrestling and ground and pound, searching for a rear naked choke. Oliveira reverses the position and exacts his revenge with heavy shots. Oliveira nearly finishes the fight in the final seconds with a head kick when and steals the round.     

**10-9 Oliveira in the second.**     

_Round 3:_     

Oliveira looks incredible in this final round, and the body language from Sopaj is not good. Sopaj desperately needs a takedown if he wants to win this round. The combinations from Oliveira are phenomenal. Oliveira is teeing off with everything in his arsenal. Oliveira is looking for a highlight, but Sopaj's chin is holding up well. Oliveira lands an incredible flying knee in the final seconds that puts Sopaj out cold on the canvas—a potential knockout of the year contender.

## Eryk Anders vs. Jamie Pickett      

**Result:** Eryk Anders def. Jamie Pickett by unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28.)     
**Division:** Middleweight (185 lbs)     
**Referee:** Mark Smith

_Round 1:_     

The Verdict MMA card begins!     

A bit of feeling out opens the round, with Anders slightly leading the dance; however, Pickett lands a beautiful counter that slows Anders down. They start swinging, and Pickett again lands the better shot, which drops Anders. Anders flaunts some submission attempts on the ground. Pickett edges out the round based on damage.     

**10-9 Pickett in the first.** 

_Round 2:_     

Anders is again walking Pickett down and controlling the Octagon well, ultimately resulting in a takedown; however, Pickett gets back to his feet. This is a gritty fight for both men. Anders holds Pickett down and sends down ground and pound while Pickett sits and waits. The round ends with Anders on top, winning a clear round 2. We are 1-1 going into the third and final.    

**10-9 Anders in the second.**     



_Round 3:_     

It all comes down to this round. Anders scores another takedown, and Pickett offers no defensive wrestling. Anders gets Pickett into the guard and begins to ground and pound. The referee warns Pickett to fight back, and surprisingly, he does, returning to his feet. Although, the get-up is short-lived for Pickett as Anders drags him back down again. Anders dominates the round with solid wrestling to win the round and the fight.

Erceg lands a big shot that stumbles Schnell; however, Schnell returns a counter to Erceg. Erceg lands a big shot in the closing seconds and wins the opening round.

_Round 1:_     

Nurmagomedov opens with a strong leg kick, but Almakhan lands a massive right hand that scrambles Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov winds up on top and takes the back as Almakhan attempts to get up. Nurmagomedov secures the body triangle and has Alimakhan in a dominant position. Nurmagomedov gets into the guard and lands a big elbow in the final minute—the round ends with Nurmagomedov on top. Nurmagomedov rallied to take the round back.

_Round 2:_     

Nurmagomedov throws a head kick and feints a takedown. Almakhan bites hard and then gets taken down. Nurmagomedov winds up in the mount with ground and pounding; however, Alimakhan gets to his feet briefly before being taken down again. Almakhan is mounted with 1 minute to go. Nurmagomedov ends the round on top after a dominant round from the Russian.

_Round 3:_     


Nurmagomedov scores an early takedown, tying his previous best of 5 takedowns in a fight. Almakhan scoots to the fence to attempt to get up, but Nurmagomedov is wise to it and flattens his opponent out. Nurmagomedov ends the round in mount, raining down elbows in a straightforward 30-27 fight.

## Alex Perez vs. Muhammad Mokaev     

**Result:** Muhammad Mokaev def. Alex Perez by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-29.)      
 **Division:** Flyweight (125 lbs)

_Round 1:_     

Mokaev's hands look impressive right away. Perez slips, and Mokaev doesn't chase him down to the ground. Perez fights off the grappling and lands a nice shot when Mokaev gets close. Perez fights off more wrestling attempts from Mokaev. Mokaev finally gets his first takedown at the final minute and ends the round on top.     

**10-9 Mokaev in the first.**    


_Round 2:_     

Mokaev earns another takedown within 20 seconds. Perez returns to his feet quickly, but Mokaev is relentless with the takedown attempts. Perez is showing success on the feet; however, as soon as he does, Mokaev desperately shoots a takedown. Perez lands some excellent elbows during one of Mokaev's takedown attempts, ultimately making him retreat the offense. Perez ends the round on top and takes it based on damage.     

**10-9 Perez in the second.**     




_Round 3:_     

1-1 going into the final round. Mokaev is looking desperate, and Perez is holding him off well. Mokaev scores an awesome suplex; however, Perez gets straight back up. The wrestling isn't working for Mokaev. Mokaev is getting very predictable. This round was all Perez for me, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way.

## Vitor Petrino vs. Tyson Pedro     

**Result:** Vitor Petrino def. Tyson Pedro by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28.)          
 **Division:** Light Heavyweight (205 lbs)     
**Referee:** Mark Smith     

_Round 1:_     

It's a game of feints to start the fight. Pedro's calf kicks are already paying dividends. Strong respect from both men during this feeling-out process. A beautiful jab lands for Petrino, the biggest shot of the fight. Round 1 is close; however, the jab from Petrino secured it for him.

_Round 2:_     

They grapple early in the round against the fence but return to striking after a stalemate. The jab from Petrino is excellent, but he needs to follow up on it. A big head kick from Petrino misses. The referee encourages both men to work during an uneventful round. Not a lot of work from the pair; however, I think Petrino did enough to take the round.

_Round 3:_     

Petrino opens with a big kick, clearly upping the tempo late in this fight. Mark Smith urges the men to work again, and Petrino offers a big takedown. Petrino holds Pedro down for the remainder of the round and wins a dominant round.

## Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Shamil Gaziev

The main event is underway! A touch of gloves starts the fight. Gaziev backs Rozenstruik back to the fence over and over again. Gaziev looks enormous here. Rozenstruik's jab is putting in work early. Gaziev lands a big shot against the fence, and Rozenstruik eats it like nothing. They meet for a clinch against the cage with Gaziev in control. Gaziev earns a big single-leg takedown in the final minute of the round. Gaziev ends the round on top and scores a 10-9 round.

_Round 2:_     

Round 2 starts slow, with Gaziev attempting to close the distance, but Rozenstruik is wise to it. Gaziev sends a big knee to the body that doesn't affect Rozenstruik. Gaziev is showing signs of fatigue already, and Rozenstruik is fighting the intelligent fight. They engage in a clinch against the fence again, and after a stalemate, Mark Goddard urges them to work. The round ends with Gaziev in control in the clinch in a close round.

_Round 3:_     

More signs of fatigue are showing for Gaziev; however, he's still throwing with power. Rozenstruik sends some more jabs that are touching up Gaziev. Rozenstruik starts the throw as the round goes on. Round 3 is all Rozenstruik with a strong jab and pressure.

_Round 4:_     

Gaziev's corner implored him to get a takedown and finish the fight between rounds. Gaziev gets in close, but Rozenstruik fights off the attempt and clinchs against the cage. More jabs from Rozenstruik are putting him further ahead every time. Rozenstruik begins to open up mid-way through round 4, but Gaziev has no answer. Rozenstruik knocks Gaziev's mouthpiece out but plays the good sport and doesn't chase him down. Rozenstruik ends the round strong yet again.     

Before round 5 can even start, referee Mark Goddard stops the bout due to an eye injury from Gaziev.

The UFC returns to the Apex this weekend, headlined by two fast finishers at Heavyweight, with Jairzinho Rozenstruik +152 taking on Shamil Gaziev -177. I went over the entire card and gave my predictions and best bets, so let's get into it.

## Jairzinho Rozenstruik +152 vs. Shamil Gaziev -177

Fast-finishing Heavyweights get the main event spotlight here. Jairzinho Rozenstruik is a credentialed kickboxer whose knockout power has ended several fights early in the first round; his ground game has been a weak point, with Jailton Almeida getting a quick finish and Curtis Blaydes beating him as well. Shamil Gaziev makes just his second UFC appearance here after a dominant debut against Martin Buday, where he was able to dominate the fight, causing severe damage and eventually securing the stoppage.

I'll take Gaziev here as he has the grappling upside and seemed to have improved his cardio in his last outing, although I would not be confident betting on either side. 

Pick: Gaziev O/U: Under 1.5 -175

## Vitor Petrino -300 vs. Tyson Pedro +250

Light Heavyweights who like to end things inside the distance square off in this one. Vitor Petrino is a physical monster with crazy power and cardio, along with a developing ground game, although he is very reckless and not the most polished on the ground. Tyson Pedro has been an interesting career to watch as he has been able to destroy lower-level opponents, but it's been a mixed bag when facing tougher competition; he has solid striking and a good ground game, but his cardio is a serious issue.

I'm going to take a shot on Pedro as the underdog here as I think he is very live early in the fight to score a submission, so I will play that prop, which can be found for prices over +1000. 

Pick: Pedro O/U: Under 1.5 +115

## Alex Perez +285 vs. Muhammad Mokaev -350

Another step up here for a young Flyweight contender as he faces a former title challenger here. Alex Perez has struggled to get into the octagon in recent years with weight and injury issues, and the last two times he has fought, he was submitted in the first round. Muhammad Mokaev remains active here as he looks to continue his undefeated streak with another finish; he has shown a very active ground game that he uses to find fight-ending opportunities well.

I've got Mokaev here as I see him using his ground game to control Perez and eventually find a submission. 

Pick: Mokaev O/U: Under 2.5 -125

## Umar Nurmagomedov -1100 vs. Bekzat Almakhan +725

An interesting matchup at Bantamweight sees a potential future title challenger take on an unknown debutant. Umar Nurmagomedov has had difficulty finding a fight after showing incredible skill so far in his UFC run, having earned several submissions and a knockout over Raoni Barcelos. Bekzat Almakhan takes on this massive challenge, having shown an excellent striking game on the regional scene against a relatively high level of competition.

Nurmagomedov should dominate here, as although Almakhan is alright, he is nowhere near the level he will need to be to compete in this one.

Pick: Nurmagomedov O/U: Under 1.5 +152

## Matt Schnell +357 vs. Steve Erceg -457

Action is expected in this Flyweight matchup. Matt Schnell is an absolute dog, as he is willing to take damage and get into firefights, although he is at his best when he can get opponents to the ground. Steve Erceg looks to enter the top ten here after showing a well-rounded game in his first two UFC appearances, both of which are wins over quality opposition. 

I like Erceg to get a finish here as Schnell is not very durable and Erceg will be putting pressure on him all fight.

Pick: Erceg O/U: Under 1.5 +100

## Eryk Anders -525 vs. Jamie Pickett +400

Middleweights looking to return to the win column will go head-to-head to open the main card. Eryk Anders is a powerful and strong guy who is very good at controlling his opponents against the cage and landing big strikes; he can look slow at times and doesn't have the best cardio. Jamie Pickett has had a rough UFC run, having lost four straight with three coming inside the distance; he has a long reach that he tries to use to keep opponents at range.

I'll pick Anders here, as it is tough to see Pickett succeed against a much stronger opponent. I also like the over in this one, as I don't see either fighter getting a finish.

Pick: Anders O/U: Over 2.5 -145

## Javid Basharat -800 vs. Aieman Zahabi +550

Bantamweights are looking to extend their win streaks. Javid Basharat enters this undefeated, having shown a very slick grappling game, although he lacks much finishing ability with his first three UFC fights going to decision. Aieman Zahabi comes into this, having won three straight after many had thought he was not UFC level early in his career after losing two straight; he has gotten back on track mainly using his strong counterstriking game, which has proven lethal.

I'll go with Basharat to get a decision, but this price makes him completely unplayable.

Pick: Basharat O/U: Over 2.5 -210

## Christian Leroy Duncan -325 vs. Claudio Ribeiro +275

This is a fantastic matchup at Middleweight as two fighters with very fun styles go head to head. Christian Leroy Duncan is an athletic and powerful striker with an unorthodox style. Claudio Ribeiro is a wild and powerful striker with serious fight-ending power, although his defense and durability are concerns, with him having been knocked out in two of his last three.

I give Duncan a slight edge across the board here as I see him as the better striker, grappler, more durable, and having better cardio, so I'll pick him. Although if Ribeiro fights smart, Duncan is very beatable with his awkward style, leaving openings.

Pick: Duncan O/U: Over 1.5 -115

## Vinicius Oliveira -133 vs. Benardo Sopaj +113

A short-notice change of opponents gives us this matchup at Bantamweight. Vinicius Oliveira comes in off a fast and impressive knockout on Dana White's Contender Series, showing his dangerous speed and power. Benardo Sopaj makes his debut here, and there is reason to be excited about him as he has shown absolute dynamite in his hands, entering on a three-fight finish streak, including the last two in the first round.

I lean towards Sopaj here as I like what I have seen from him, and although it is short notice, he has been preparing for a scheduled fight anyway, so he should be in good shape. 

Pick: Sopaj O/U: Under 1.5 +120

## Ludovit Klein -1000 vs. AJ Cunningham +700

This is a short-notice clash here at Lightweight. Ludovit Klein has improved during his time in the UFC, now having impressive wins over Mason Jones and Ignacio Bahamondes, where he showed his powerful striking and good wrestling. AJ Cunningham steps in here, and he is a tough brawler who trains with Bryce Mitchell, although I don't believe he is very high level, having been completely dominated on Dana White's Contender Series, showing a severe lack of head movement and defense.

Klein should dominate here as he has proven himself to be a legitimate talent in the deep Lightweight division, and I don't believe Cunningham is at the UFC level. 

Pick: Klein O/U: Under 1.5 -125

## Loik Radzhabov +154 vs. Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady -179

Lightweights will kick off the card with this fun clash. Loik Radzhabov looks to bounce back after a knockout loss to Mateusz Rebecki; he is a solid wrestler, although he lacks much finishing ability against high-level opponents, as shown during his PFL run. Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady is coming off a big and impressive upset over George Hardwick on the Contender's Series, where he showed a high pace kickboxing style.

I'll go with Al-Selwady to get a decision win here, as I expect him to be able to defend the grappling and have the higher output.

UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Gaziev Weigh-In Results

Following Brandon Royval's upset victory over Brandon Moreno, the Flyweight division is in an interesting spot. With no fighters in the top five currently scheduled, and numerous fighters on win streaks, matchups need to be made. Today, we'll take a look at five possible matchups to be made at 125 pounds. 

## Tatsuro Taira vs. Tim Elliott

After a handful of impressive victories, Tatsuro Taira has finally reached the top fifteen. One of the most well-rounded prospects in the sport, he has fantastic striking and a dangerous submission game. Undefeated at 15-0, he’s already earned two bonuses and three finishes in just five fights. After showing his grappling prowess in his first few promotional bouts, he secured a KO victory over Carlos Hernandez, proving he can get it done on the feet, too. He’s earned an opportunity to face ranked opponents, and I believe Tim Elliott is the perfect introduction to the top of the division.

Elliott has seemed to be a true litmus test for the division in recent years. An exceptionally unique fighter, he uses a combination of bizarre footwork and excellent wrestling to defeat his opponents. He provides a constant, evolving challenge on the feet or the ground. With three wins in his last five outings, all against up-and-coming opponents, this is yet another chance for Elliott to prove he belongs at the top. A win in this bout would greatly help either fighter move another rung up the Flyweight ladder.

## Tagir Ulanbekov vs. Manel Kape

After a setback loss to the man we just discussed, Tim Elliott, Ulanbekov has won 2 straight and secured his spot in the top 15. Hailing from Dagestan, he has fantastic wrestling and top control but has solid power in his hands as well. Often using his striking to set up his grappling, he won’t just look to control his opponents, constantly throwing ground and pound and pursuing submissions. Ulanbekov has been red-hot since his first loss, securing two consecutive submission victories without absorbing much damage. Now clearly ready for another challenge, Manel Kape would be a fantastic test.

 A former Rizin champion, he’s a top-tier striker who’s always dangerous. Similarly suffering early setbacks, he’s won four in a row, outlanding all his last four opponents and securing two first-round knockouts. He has fantastic, flashy kickboxing, regularly throwing jump attacks and constantly pursuing a knockout. While Kape has proven his striking prowess, he’s never faced a grappler of Ulanbekov’s caliber, nor has Ulanbekov faced a striker of Kape’s. With both men needing an impressive victory to reach the top five, this would be a perfect matchup.

## Kai Kara-France. vs Matheus Nicolau

Although suffering unfortunate losses, Kai Kara-France remains in the top five of the flyweight division. An excellent striker, he’s earned five bonuses in his UFC tenure and is always in exciting fights. He’s constantly pushing the pace, mixing kicks into combinations, and pursuing a knockout. Kara-France has spent some time at the top of the division but has yet to realize a title shot. Despite recent losses, he remains one of the best fighters in the weight class and deserves to face those near him in the rankings.

Sitting just one spot behind him in the rankings is Matheus Nicolau, an excellent matchup for him. Nicolau is similarly coming off a loss after climbing his way to the top five. He has fantastic counterstriking and high-level grappling and can damage his opponent wherever the fight goes. With both fighters having losses to people above them in the rankings, this is the perfect time for this matchup. Both men push the pace and need a big bounceback win; this will surely be fireworks. 

## Brandon Moreno vs. Amir Albazi

Brandon Moreno is one of the most accomplished Flyweights in UFC history. Holding seven performance bonuses, six title fights, and six finish victories, he’s been one of the faces of the division for the past five years. With fantastic boxing and excellent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he’s one of the most well-rounded fighters in the UFC. Now suffering his first consecutive loss since 2018, he must re-establish himself as a title contender. In need of a top-five victory, one of the hottest prospects in the sport is also in need of a fight: Amir Albazi.

 A dominant grappler, he’s averaging nearly two takedowns landed per fifteen minutes and has technical striking on the feet. Constantly pushing the pace, he’s finished three of his five UFC opponents and earned his first main event in June last year, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Kai Kara-France. Initially, this fight was scheduled and was supposed to occur this past weekend instead of Moreno vs. Royval. This matchup is perfect for both men and is now the ideal time.
 
## Brandon Royval vs. Alexandre Pantoja 3

Following his victory over Brandon Moreno this weekend, Brandon Royval has firmly established himself as the number-one contender for the Flyweight title. A true scrapper, he always leaves it all in the cage and has some of the wildest finishes in UFC history. Never in a boring fight, he used his diverse striking and slick submission game to find his way to the top. Royval is incredibly tough and unpredictable, able to find a finish anywhere, anytime. With just one loss in his last five outings, he deserves a chance to avenge it in a title rematch with Alexandre Pantoja.

 With both power and speed in his hands and a fantastic submission game, he’s finally realized his title aspirations. In his last five fights, he’s not only won the title but earned three bonuses and two finishes. Pantoja is at the height of his powers and shouldn’t face anyone other than the number one contender. Although he already holds two wins over Royval, this is still the fight to make. Royval has proven to be constantly reinventing himself, and with the improvements he showed this weekend, he could be a completely new test for Pantoja.

## Erik Silva vs. Muhammad Naimov

Result: Muhammad Naimov def. Erik Silva via TKO (Injury) at 0:44 of Round 1.

Division: Featherweight

Referee: Fernando Salas

The night's first fight is underway with a touch of gloves between the two and an early leg kick attempt for Silva. Immediately, Muhammad Naimov threw a spinning-heel kick, which landed awkwardly on Silva. After a trip takedown from Naimov, the bout is stopped due to an unfortunate injury after Silva stepped back on his foot wrong.

## Victor Altamirano vs. Felipe dos Santos

The Flyweights wasted no time getting after it in the second bout of the card. Both men exchanged a variety of wild kicks, and Altamirano nearly fell into a guillotine. Altamirano secured two takedowns after a clash of heads, but Dos Santos popped back up both times. On the third time, Dos Santos jumped for another guillotine but couldn't secure it and rose back to his feet. Dos Santos overswung on another shot, allowing Altamirano to secure another takedown. 

Dos Santos started round two with a flurry of kicks but was knocked down from a sidekick by Altamirano. Dos Santos connected with a big right hand, but Altamirano seemed unphased. Dos Santos started picking the action up on the feet, but Altamirano responded with a takedown to ground the Chute Box fighter. A massive right hand caught Altamirano, briefly rocking him, but the Mexican recovered well. Altamirano finished the round with another takedown.

Dos Santos again caught the Mexican with a nasty counter right before securing the back of Altamirano and attempted to lock down the rear naked choke. Altamirano remained calm, escaped the choke, and scrambled back to his feet. Altamirano sluggishly moved around the cage, with Dos Santos looking like the much fresher fighter. However, Dos Santos could not fend off another takedown and ended up on the bottom again. Altamirano tried to lock down an arm triangle, but the Brazilian was wise to do so, so he rose to his feet once again. Dos Santos pushed ahead in the final thirty seconds, and the two Flyweights go the distance.

## Ronaldo Rodriguez vs. Denys Bondar

Result: Ronaldo Rodriguez def. Denys Bondar via Submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:58 of Round 2.

Division: Flyweight

Referee: Mike Beltran

Denys Bondar started this fight fast, landing a nasty overhand into a takedown. However, Rodirugez reversed position and got back to his feet. Another overhand stunned Rodriguez and Bondar went for the same takedown. Bondar started piecing Rodrigues up, but the Mexican responded with his own heat towards the end of the round. In the closing minutes of the round, Rogriguez pushed Bondar up against the fence and started teeing off on his before the buzzer sounded.

Bondar started round two with a crazy right hand into a spinning elbow, but Rodriguez ate all of it. Bondar got Rodriguez down to the ground again, but the Mexican quickly reversed position. Bondar shot for another double leg, but Rodriguez's scrambles were on point. The Mexican started hammering down strikes on Bondar in the dying seconds of the round before locking down a rear-naked choke and finishing Bondar with two seconds to go.

## Claudio Puelles vs. Fares Ziam

Result: Fares Ziam def. Claudio Puelles via Split Decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)

Division: Lightweight

Referee: Herb Dean

Puelles started the fight with a fast takedown, which Ziam couldn't fend off. A sharp jab dropped Puelles, and Ziam followed up with ground and pound strikes but couldn't finish Puelles. Recovering well, Puelles secured another takedown and grounded Ziam.

Puelles pulled guard early in round 2, but Ziam worked his way back to the feet and partially ate a head kick. Another big takedown gets through for Puelles who begins to control Ziam for the first time in the fight. Puelles tried to take the back of Ziam, but the Frenchman defended well against the submission attempts. Ziam takes top control and starts elbowing Puelles until the end of the round.

Puelles attempted a wayward shot to start round 3, but it was stifled very quickly. However, his second attempt was successful, but Ziam pulled a guillotine to reverse the position. The rest of the round was spent on the mat, and Ziam finished the round strong with some heavy ground strikes.

## Edgar Chairez vs. Daniel Lacerda

Result: Edgar Chairez def. Daniel Lacerda via Submission (triangle-choke)

Division: Catchweight (131 lbs)

Referee: Marc Goddard

This Flyweight rematch began with a fast start, with Chairez sending out a flying knee attempt, followed by a hard body kick. After trading kicks, Chairez got through with a hard straight, which forced Lacerda to shoot for a takedown, which he secured. Chairez threw up a triangle choke, which forced Lacerda to tap, this time legitimately. 

## Jesus Santos Aguilar vs. Matues Mendonca

Result: N/A

Division: Flyweight

Referee: N/A

Mendonca wasted no time at the start of the fight, quickly flooring Aguilar with a takedown. The entire round was played out on the mat, with both men going back and forth in the grappling exchanges, and Mendoca locking up a late armbar that was slammed out of by Aguilar.

UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs. Royval 2 Results and Play-By-Play

The first PFL vs. Bellator event was a fan-friendly success, with the Bellator team securing a clear 5-1 victory over the PFL fighters. However, the sole win for the PFL might've been the most important, as it solidified Francis Ngannou's next opponent.

In less than thirty seconds, Renan Ferreira made short work of Ryan Bader, TKOing the Bellator Champion. The 6'7 Brazillian fighter holds a professional record of 12-4-3NC and has won his last four fights by KO/TKO.

## Malik Basahel vs. Vinicius Pereira

Result: Malik Basahel def. Vinicius Pereira via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

Basahel worked for the takedown early and was able to ground Pereira early in the first round; he maintained top control through the rest of the first round. Early in round two, Basahel landed a nice high kick, but Pereira was able to secure the back and hold that position until the very end of the round when Basahel landed some solid ground and pound. Round three saw Basahel land another takedown early on, and after surviving some submission attempts, he did more work to secure position and the round.

## Abdullah Al-Qahtani vs. Edukondala Rao

Result: Abdullah Al-Qahtani def. Edukondala Rao via TKO (Punches and knee) at 0:25 of Round 3

Division: Featherweight

Referee: Bryan Miner

Al-Qahtani worked from the clinch early to secure a takedown and do some damage before Rao returned to his feet and landed a huge punch that hurt Al-Qahtani who recovered with another takedown. Early in round two, Al-Qahtani landed some big punches and scored a takedown, scoring some serious ground and pound from there. Round three saw Al-Qahtani land some big shots, and after a bad reaction from Rao, the referee stepped in.

## Claressa Shields vs. Kelsey De Santis

Result: Claressa Shields def. Kelsey De Santis via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Division: Catchweight (165 IBS)

Referee: Kerry Hatley

Shields looked powerful in the striking early and initiated a clinch position before De Santis scored a takedown near the midpoint of round one. De Santis was very deep on an armbar in an attempt to end round one, but the bell saved Shields. In round two, Shields appeared to have a clear speed and cardio advantage dominating the round. The third saw Shields land several hard flurries before being taken down and mounted by De Santis for the second half of the round.

## Biaggio Ali-Walsh vs. Emmanuel Palacio

Result: Biaggio Ali Walsh def. Emmanuel Palacio via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Division: Lightweight

Referee: Kerry Hatley

Ali-Walsh landed a strong takedown less than a minute in and continued to use his groundwork to control the first round. The second round saw the two trade punches, with Ali-Walsh throwing the higher volume and Palacio landing as well before Ali-Walsh secured another takedown to control the rest of the round. Round three saw more ground domination from Ali-Walsh.

## Aaron Pico vs. Henry Corales

Result: Aaron Pico def. Henry Corales via TKO (elbows) at 4:50 of Round 1

Division: Lightweight

Referee: Bryan Miner

Pico came out with a grappling-heavy approach early, scoring several takedowns and landing good shots in the clinch. Pico started landing hard ground and pound and the referee stopped the fight at the end of round one when it became clear Corales was not responding.

## Clay Collard vs. AJ McKee

Result: AJ McKee def. Clay Collard via submisson (triangle armbar) at 1:10 of Round 1

AJ McKee was able to land a beautiful takedown early, and from there, he transitioned between a guillotine, triangle, and armbar to force the tap from Collard.

## Thiago Santos vs. Yoel Romero

Result: Yoel Romero def. Thiago Santos via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

The two were tentative about starting the fight, fainting and hesitating to throw. Round two saw an uptick in volume from Santos, but Romero began to have success with low kicks that very clearly bothered Santos. Romero continued to press the low kicks through the third round.

## Bruno Cappelozza vs. Vadim Nemkov

Result: Vadim Nemkov def. Bruno Cappelozza via submission (arm triangle) at 2:13 of Round 2

Nemkov showed off his speed advantage early on, landing many jabs and several right hands behind them. In round two, Cappelozza landed a punch that momentarily stunned Nemkov before he landed a takedown and secured the arm triangle that put Cappelozza unconscious.

## Ray Cooper III vs. Jason Jackson

Jackson started the fight with stiff leg kicks that bothered Cooper before landing a takedown to control the first round. In round two, Jackson dropped Cooper right away and pounded him out to get the finish.

## Impa Kasanganay vs. Johnny Eblen

Result: Johnny Eblen def. Impa Kasanganay via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

The first round saw Eblen score an early takedown before Kasanganay returned to his feet and had some success striking. Round two saw Kasanganay land a huge shot that hurt Eblen badly and dropped him; Eblen then forced the wrestling, eventually secured the top position, and held on to the end of the round. Eblen pushed forward for the third round, landing several big right hands and securing a late takedown.

Ferreria landed a massive right hand early and got Bader out of there with a flurry on the ground.

PFL vs. Bellator Results

The PFL begins a new era tomorrow as they will put their 2023 season champions up against the champions from Bellator on this massive PPV event headlined by Heavyweights Renan Ferreira -129 and Ryan Bader +109 competing for the opportunity to face superstar Francis Ngannou in his PFL debut. I went over the main card, which is loaded with fantastic matchups, so let's get into it.

## Renan Ferreira -129 vs. Ryan Bader +109

Heavyweight champions clash here with an even larger opportunity waiting in the wings. Renan Ferreira is an athletic freak with insane power, not to mention he is as big a human being as there is in MMA right now, although his ground game is bad, which has kept him from dominating as many thought he would. Ryan Bader is back after a year away, and it's tough to know what we're getting here as he has competed at the highest level of the sport and shown a well-rounded game, but at this age with seemingly already declining durability, there are concerns.

I'll take Bader as the underdog as I see him having a massive advantage in the grappling, although I don't mind a play on Ferreira to get an early knockout, as that is also possible.

Pick: Bader O/U: Under 1.5 -160

## Impa Kasanganay +300 vs. Johnny Eblen -400

Middleweight showdown here that features the PFL Light Heavyweight champ back at his natural weight against one of the best in the world. Impa Kasanganay became one of the best stories in MMA this year by bouncing back from his UFC exit to win the PFL Light Heavyweight title and the million dollars that came with it; he did so using a well-rounded game with fast striking and good defense. Johnny Eblen is an unbeaten beast from the famous American Top Team gym, where he developed a dominant wrestling game that includes vicious ground and pound.

I see Eblen dominating here, and with two of Kasanganay's losses coming by knockout, I think there is value on Eblen to win via TKO/KO at +350. 

Pick: Eblen O/U: Under 2.5 +175

## Ray Cooper III +425 vs. Jason Jackson -600

This will be a Catchweight fight between a former PFL champion and the current Bellator Welterweight king. Ray Cooper III is a tank of a man with massive power, although he can be taken down and controlled as he was in his last fight against Derek Brunson, and he has had trouble with weight lately. Jason Jackson is coming off an enormous upset win over the previously undefeated Yaroslav Amosov, where he showed he is a well-rounded machine who can strike and grapple with elite talent.

I like Jackson to win a decision here, as Cooper is tough but outmatched. With the prices so close, it may be smarter to play the fight to go the distance rather than Jackson's decision prop to avoid any judging issues.

Pick: Jackson O/U: Over 2.5 -150

## Bruno Cappelozza +300 vs. Vadim Nemkov -400

The Bellator Light Heavyweight champion moves to Heavyweight here to challenge a former PFL season winner. Bruno Cappelozza returns after his last fight was overturned when he tested positive for a banned substance; he did show his knockout power in that fight by finishing Matheus Scheffel after losing him in his previous fight. Vadim Nemkov has looked very good during his run as Bellator champ, learning from the great Fedor Emelianeko. He has nine wins and no losses since joining the organization, using his slick striking and decent submission game to dominate his opponents. 

I've got Nemkov here as he will have a significant speed advantage, and I also trust him more durability-wise.

Pick: Nemkov O/U: Over 1.5 -115

## Thiago Santos +100 vs. Yoel Romero -120

Light Heavyweight veterans will face off in a matchup made for the fans. Thiago Santos is a powerful kickboxer who has struggled with knee issues that have slowed him down. Yoel Romero keeps going here at age forty-six; he has an Olympic wrestling background and explosive striking, although he has been known to throw very low volume in many of his fights. 

I'll go with Santos to get a decision, as he will likely be the more active guy here, but Romero is still incredibly durable.

Pick: Santos O/U: Over 2.5 -240

## Clay Collard +225 vs. AJ McKee -265

Lightweights who know how to put on a show will open the main card in this can't-miss clash. Clay Collard is a high-volume striker capable of setting an unmatchable pace with his hands; strong grapplers have controlled him, but he has proven challenging to submit or damage from those positions. AJ McKee has a phenomenal skillset with a great submission game that he used to defeat Patricio Pitbull and many others, along with an excellent striking game at a distance.

I'll pick McKee, but at this price, it's a clear pass from a betting perspective; if McKee doesn't succeed in the grappling, this could be a wild matchup.
