Olivier Aubin-Mercier was born and raised in Quebec, Canada, learning Taekwondo from a young age. It wasn't until he enrolled in High School that he opted to learn Judo instead, and he was incredible almost immediately.     

Aubin-Mercier progressed rapidly through Judo to finish second at the Canadian Nations and enter the Canadian National Team. 

After High School, at 21, Aubin-Mercier was offered a substantial amount of money to continue competing in Judo for Canada; however, he refused and decided to try a different combat sport instead. This is where he found himself in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes and never looked back.    

Aubin-Mercier also chose to take Muay Thai and Kickboxing classes to become a complete fighter and embark on an MMA career.      

Aubin-Mercier had a few amateur fights, which he won all of, and finally went professional.

In 2011, Aubin-Mercier debuted as a professional MMA fighter in the Lightweight weight class. He competed in a few regional organizations throughout Quebec, such as Ringside MMA, SLAMM, and Challenge MMA, in which he compiled a perfect record of 4 wins in 4 fights, finishing all his opponents by rear-naked choke submission in the first round.

Following his fourth professional fight, Aubin-Mercier was offered a shot on the UFC's reality TV show, The Ultimate Fighter, to secure a potential UFC contract.   

Aubin-Mercier dominated his first 2 fights on the show, defeating Jake Matthews and Richard Walsh to advance to the live finale.    


In the finale, Aubin-Mercier took on fellow Canadian Chad Laprise and lost a close split decision. However, this loss didn't deter Dana White, as he signed him for a UFC contract anyway.

Aubin-Mercier's first 7 fights in the UFC mainly came in Canada during 2014-2016. As stated, he lost his debut; however, after the fact, he found himself on a 3-fight win streak over Jake Lindsey, David Michaud, and Tony Sims, with 2 submissions and 1 decision.    


Aubin-Mercier's fifth fight would see him take his second career loss at the hands of Carlos Diego Ferreira by unanimous decision.     





Aubin-Mercier jumped back into his winning ways over his following 4 fights, securing all wins over impressive names such as Drew Dober, Anthony Rocco Martin, and Evan Dunham.      


Aubin-Mercier's final 3 UFC fights would see him face back-to-back-to-back decision losses over Alexander Hernandez, Gilbert Burns, and Arman Tsarukyan. Due to these consecutive losses, Aubin-Mercier was not offered an opportunity to resign to the UFC and instead looked for other opportunities.     

 









## Road to a Million Dollars in the PFL

Aubin-Mercier made his PFL debut during the 2021 season, facing Marcin Held in his first fight. Aubin-Mercier won the fight unanimously and moved his record to 12-5.     


Later the same year, Aubin-Mercier faced Darrell Horcher, who missed weight by 3 lbs, forcing the bout to be a catchweight. Aubin-Mercier won the fight unanimously and claimed 30% of Horcher's purse. Aubin-Mercier did not make it to the finale this year, and Raush Manfio ended 2021 as the PFL Lightweight champion.     


2022 was Aubin-Mercier's best year of fighting. This year saw him win 3 decisions in the playoff stages of the 2022 tournament over  Natan Schulte, Raush Manfio, and Alex Martinez in the process. These wins earned him a shot in the finale against Stevie Ray. Aubin-Mercier would knock Ray out in the second round to become PFL champion and 1 million dollars richer.     


For the current 2023 season, Aubin-Mercier faced ex-UFC fighter and PFL debutant Shane Burgos in the first leg of the tournament, beating him by unanimous decision. Aubin-Mercier followed this up with back-to-back knockouts over Anthony Romero and Bruno Miranda to advance to the finale against Clay Collard on November 24, 2023.    


Olivier Aubin-Mercier is now 20-5, with 4 knockouts and 8 submissions. He has never been finished in 25 fights.

UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Craig Weigh-In Results

The UFC is back in the Apex this weekend, headlined by Middleweights Brendan Allen -400 and Paul Craig +320 going head to head. I went over that fight and the entire card to give my predictions and best bets, so let's get into it.

## Brendan Allen -400 vs. Paul Craig +320

Middleweights looking to prove they belong in title contention battle it out in our main event. Brendan Allen has rounded out his game and become a dangerous threat in this division with clean striking and a dominant ground attack. Paul Craig is a submission specialist who has worked to add some striking to his arsenal, although he will always be most dangerous from his full guard, where he has caught many in his wide array of chokes.

This is a good matchup for Allen as I see him fighting smart to defend from Craig's ground game, dominate the striking, and eventually find a knockout. 

Pick: Allen O/U: Over 1.5 -118

## Jake Matthews +240 vs. Michael Morales -294

A big Welterweight prospect gets his toughest test to date here. Jake Matthews is a solid veteran who has grown up in the UFC, developing a solid striking game to go with his dangerous ground game. Michael Morales is a very big and athletic prospect, and although he has shown talent, he is very hittable and leaves many openings that top-tier opponents will take advantage of.

I took Matthews here as the underdog as I like how he has rounded out his game and think his experience will play a huge factor in this matchup.

Pick: Matthews O/U: Over 1.5 -200

## Jordan Leavitt +180 vs. Chase Hooper -217

Lightweight grapplers square off in this fun matchup. Jordan Leavitt is a good grappler who can hold position well, although he lacks much finishing ability. Chase Hooper looked great after moving up to Lightweight his last fight, his striking is still a question, but his grappling is very solid.

I lean with Hooper as he will not have to fear the strikes coming back and will have an edge on the ground; however, this price makes him tough to back.

Pick: Hooper O/U: Over 2.5 -152

## Payton Talbott -769 vs. Nick Aguirre +540

An intriguing Bantamweight prospect makes his debut here. Payton Talbott is an undefeated young talent with a high-pace striking style; he is willing to trade punches, which has worked for him as he has finished five wins by knockout. Nick Aguirre is a solid submission grappler who has proven tough to finish, although he struggled when facing an opponent with good grappling in his UFC debut against Dan Argueta.

I'm excited to watch Talbott here as I think he drowns Aguirre with volume and gets a late finish. 

Pick: Talbott O/U: Over 1.5 -185

## Amanda Ribas -233 vs. Luana Pinheiro +190

Strawweights who are looking to enter contention clash here. Amanda Ribas moves back down in weight here, and I'm not entirely sure why, as I thought she was having success at Flyweight; either way, she is a skilled grappler who doesn't take punches well. Luana Pinheiro comes into this one off a close win over Michelle Waterson-Gomez, where she left some to be desired in a step up in competition.

I'll pick Ribas here, as she should have the edge in grappling and striking to take a clear decision. 

Pick: Ribas O/U: Over 2.5 -213

## Uros Medic +118 vs. Myktybek Orolbai -139

Short notice matchup here to open the main card at Welterweight. Uros Medic is a dangerous striker with good takedown defense, and he scored a big comeback knockout in his debut at this weight last time out against Matt Semelsberger. Myktybek Orolbai comes in here on just days' notice; he is a powerful striker with solid experience outside of the UFC, showing he is ready for this level.

This is going to be a great fight where both guys will land big shots, but I'm taking Orolbai to hold up better and get a knockout win late, although I would be much more confident if it were not such late notice.

Pick: Orolbai O/U: Over 1.5 -189

## Jonathan Pearce -132 vs. Joanderson Brito +112

Fantastic fight here at Featherweight between two very fun-to-watch fighters. Jonathan Pearce is a very high-paced grappler, his striking needs work, but he is durable and will keep the pressure on. Joanderson Brito is a dangerous finisher with powerful hands and a solid submission game, although, with the early danger, he can fade later in fights. 

I like Pearce here as he is relentless on the ground and very skilled, leading him to take over this fight late if it gets past the first round. 

Pick: Pearce O/U: Over 2.5 +117

## Chad Anheliger +160 vs. Jose Johnson -192

Intriguing matchup here at Bantamweight. Chad Anheliger is a tough fighter with great cardio, which has helped him outlast several opponents. Jose Johnson is very tall for the weight class and has a dangerous ground game, although he lacks much high-level experience. 

I lean with Anheliger at this price as he has more high-level and late-fight experience. 

Pick: Anheliger O/U: Over 2.5 -125

## Christian Leroy Duncan -455 vs. Denis Tiuliulin +360

Short notice Middleweight matchup starts off the card. Christian Leroy Duncan is an explosive striker with a unique style, his grappling is also solid, but he uses it sparingly. Denis Tiuliulin steps in here on short notice; he has decent kickboxing but has significantly struggled when forced to grapple.

Duncan is the rightful favorite here, but there is no way to lay this pricetag after his last showing. 

Pick: Duncan O/U: Under 1.5 -111

## Mick Parkin -345 vs. Caio Machado +280

Up and coming Heavyweights clash here. Mick Parkin comes into this off an impressive debut where he showed good hands. Caio Machado makes his debut here, and based on what I have seen, I'm not sure he is ready to compete at this level.

Parkin should take this one, and he will likely get his first UFC finish here.

Pick: Parkin O/U: Under 1.5 +131

## Lucas Alexander -526 vs. Jeka Saragih +400

Featherweight finishers matchup early on the card. Lucas Alexander is a good kickboxer with a kick-heavy style; his grappling is a weak point, as he has been submitted in each of his losses. Jeka Saragih comes in off the Road to UFC, he is a flashy striker, but he lacks some fundamental skills that are needed at this level. 

Alexander should take this one, as he is a more experienced and dangerous striker; I see him getting a knockout finish here. 

Pick: Alexander O/U: Over 1.5 -172

## Lucie Pudilova +160 vs. Ailin Perez -189

Bantamweights looking to gain momentum in the division face off in this one. Lucie Pudilova continues her second UFC stint here. Ailin Perez got her first UFC win last time out in a good showing where she dominated using her grappling. 

I'll pick Perez here as she looked good her last time out, but I can't pay this price to bet her. 

Pick: Perez O/U: Over 2.5 -294

## Nikolas Motta -130 vs. Trey Ogden +110

Veteran Lightweights go head to head in the featured prelim. Nikolas Motta is a hard-hitting striker with an aggressive style, although he isn't the most durable fighter. Trey Ogden has struggled in the UFC as he has little power in his hands or wrestling to get fighters to the ground.

I've got Motta in this one, as he is the much more dangerous and aggressive fighter here.

Pick: Motta O/U: Under 2.5 -105

## Charles Johnson +125 vs. Rafael Estevam -147

Undefeated debutant takes on a tested veteran at Flyweight. Charles Johnson is a striker with a lot of movements that are tough for opponents to deal with; he also has a good submission game but can be held in the bottom position. Rafael Estevam won his fight on the Contender Series with heavy top pressure; although his opponent did not fight very smart, Estevam remained composed and got the win to his credit.

I've got Johnson here as he has proven very difficult to finish, and he can go for three rounds, which I am not sure Estevam can. 

Pick: Johnson O/U: Over 2.5 -244

UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Craig Predictions

There are massive stakes tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden. Although Jon Jones will not be headlining the card, we have one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year, with Jiri Prochakza and Alex Pereira serving as the main event. The co-main event features Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall for the interim heavyweight title, with the winner likely getting that golden ticket to fight Jones at some point in 2024. 

Madison Square Garden, the mecca of sports and entertainment, has witnessed some of the most thrilling and historic moments in combat sports history. In this article, we'll look at the ten best UFC fights that have taken place at Madison Square Garden.

## Dustin Poirier vs Michael Chandler - UFC 281

Kicking off this list is the featured bout of the UFC 281 card. Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler fought for a Lightweight title eliminator and delivered. Chandler found a lot of success in the early rounds, but Poirier took over late and submitted Chandler in the third round. It was wild, bloody, and very entertaining, and it was the fight that kicked off what was an action-packed UFC 281 card. 

## Kevin Lee vs Gregor Gillespie - UFC 244

A clash of top Lightweight contenders, Kevin Lee and Gregor Gillespie put on an absolute show for as long as the fight lasted. Lee knocked Gillespie out cold with one of the most vicious head-kick knockouts you will ever see. The clip is still being shown to this day and the highlight reel finish solidified his status as a top fifteen talent in the division. 

## Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington II - UFC 268

After Kamaru Usman defeated Colby Covington the first time, it was destiny that they would meet again, given that their first fight was very close up until Usman's fifth-round finish. The second fight, like the first was a war. Back-and-forth action, with both fighters finding success. In the end, it was Usman who earned a razor-close decision win over Colby, thus ending their rivalry. 

## Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira - UFC 271

The first meeting between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira was iconic. Their rivalry in the world of kickboxing had translated into MMA after Pereira came and made his presence known in the UFC Middleweight division after beating Andreas Michilidas, Bruno Silva, and Sean Strickland en route to his first UFC title shot opportunity. Adesanya was a star in the UFC, and Pereira would abruptly steal that spotlight, knocking Adesanya out in the fifth round. 

## Cody Garbrandt vs TJ Dillashaw - UFC 217

After one of the greatest championship-winning performances in UFC history, Cody Garbrandt, now the UFC Bantamweight champion, looked ahead to his first title defense against bitter rival TJ Dillashaw. These two have had a long history of training at the same gym, and when TJ left and took his longtime coach with him, Cody took it personally. This was a very heated rivalry that met in the octagon, with Dillashaw finishing Cody Garbrandt, and winning the Bantamweight title from him. 

## Justin Gaethje vs Michael Chandler - UFC 268

Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler put on one of the greatest fights in UFC history at Madison Square Garden back at UFC 268. Similarly to the Poirier fight, Chandler found some success in the first round, rocking Gaethje. As tough as he is, Justin survived, and the two went to war for the remainder of the fight. This fight was action from bell to bell, and both men gave it their all for the duration of the fight. Nobody expected it to go to a decision, but it did with Gaethje getting the win. 

## Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Rose Namajunas - UFC 217

Joanna Jedrzejczyk was in the midst of a legendary title run until she ran into Rose Namajunas at UFC 217. Joanna Champion was destroying everyone in her path but Namajunas pulled off a major upset, knocking the champion out in the very first round. This was a huge fight on the UFC 217 card that saw three champions lose their title. 

## Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz - UFC 244

At the peak of his stardom, Jorge Masvidal capped off an unbelievable year by winning the BMF belt, signifying him as the baddest dude in the UFC. The anticipation leading up to this fight was amazing, and the fight delivered. Masvidal and Diaz laid it all out there in the octagon until the doctor stopped the fight after the third round due to a gash above Nate Diaz's eye. 

## Michael Bisping vs Georges St-Pierre - UFC 217

In a comeback for the ages, former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre returned to the Octagon after a four-year layoff to face middleweight champion Michael Bisping. St-Pierre displayed his legendary skills, securing a third-round knockdown that led to a submission victory and adding another championship to his storied, Hall of Fame career. 

## Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez - UFC 205

Headlining the first-ever pay-per-view at the Garden, Conor McGregor made history as the first fighter to hold two title simultaneously, as he defeated Eddie Alvarez in the second round to become a double champ. McGregor's win made him a global superstar, and he etched his name in the history books forever. 

With two title fights set to go down tomorrow night, we could likely see either of them get added to this list when the dust settles. This is one of the most highly anticipated cards of the year, the UFC always makes sure to put on exciting events whenever they travel to New York City, and UFC 295 looks like a can't miss event. 



Top Ten Greatest Fights to Take Place at MSG

The UFC is bringing two massive title fights to Madison Square Garden this weekend as Jiri Prochazka +105 will battle Alex Pereira -118 for the Light Heavyweight title in the main event, and Sergei Pavlovich -101 takes on Tom Aspinall -112 for the interim Heavyweight championship. I gave out my picks and best bets for those two fights and the rest of this loaded card, so let's get into it.

## Jiri Prochazka +105 vs. Alex Pereira -118

The Light Heavyweight main event is sure to produce violence as these two powerful knockout artists face off. Jiri Prochazka returns from a devastating shoulder injury that caused him to vacate his title; he is an unorthodox striker with insane power, phenomenal durability, and great cardio. Alex Pereira is a world-class kickboxer looking to add another world title to his resume here; his signature left hook has left many in its wake, and it is far from his only weapon.

I'm taking Pereira here as he is the cleaner striker, and I am not sure how Jiri will look, having recovered from his shoulder injury after less than a year away.

Pick: Pereira O/U: Over 1.5 Rounds -156

## Sergei Pavlovich -101 vs. Tom Aspinall -112

Two fast-fishing Heavyweights look to claim the interim title here in the co-main event. Sergei Pavlovich could be the most powerful puncher in the UFC right now with a long streak of first-round knockouts over credentialed competition; his hands are not to be doubted, although we have not seen much aside from his boxing due to how quickly that ends fights. Tom Aspinall is a freak athlete for his size as he moves with insane speed, which he pairs with an educated attack to dominate his opponents.

I've got Aspinall in this one, as he is the more technical striker with more weapons to work with. 

Pick: Aspinall O/U: Under 1.5 -233

## Jessica Andrade +170 vs. Mackenzie Dern -196

Veteran Strawweights collide here. Jessica Andrade will look to get things back on track here after being finished in each of her last three fights; she is a powerful puncher, although her ground game has not looked great in her last few. Mackenzie Dern is a phenomenal grappler who has shown notable improvement in her striking, dominating Angela Hill in her last fight.

I'm picking Dern in this one as she has all the momentum coming in and has a clear advantage on the ground.

Pick: Dern O/U: Under 2.5 -200

## Matt Frevola +195 vs. Benoit Saint-Denis -227

A Lightweight firefight goes down here between two of the most exciting men in the division. Matt Frevola is on a roll with three first-round knockouts in a row, his hands have become his signature, but he has solid wrestling as well, which he showed in his win over Jalin Turner. Benoit Saint-Denis has burst onto the scene with his violent style that produced dominant finishes of Ismael Bonfim and Thiago Moises since his move down to Lightweight; he mixes up his striking and grappling attack well to do as much damage as possible.

This is a close fight, but I lean toward Saint-Denis as I give him the durability edge in what I believe will turn into a striking match.

Pick: Saint-Denis O/U: Over 1.5 +122

## Pat Sabatini -115 vs. Diego Lopes +102

Two very slick grapplers test themselves against each other here at Featherweight. Pat Sabatini has a dominant offensive grappling game with fantastic top control that he is able to maintain very well over long durations. Diego Lopes has become one to watch with his exciting style that earned him a quick finish over Gavin Tucker last time out; the issue is he is very willing to spend time in bottom position to attempt submission because he believes in his grappling that much although he has decent striking as well.

I'm on Sabatini here as I see him taking top position and not letting up to dominate to a decision here as he is too skilled and smart on the ground to get caught by Lopes.

Pick: Sabatini O/U: Over 2.5 +109

## Steve Erceg -185 vs. Alessandro Costa +165

Up and coming Flyweights collide here in the featured prelim. Steve Erceg came in on short notice and showed out against David Dvorak last time out, showing a high pace and well-rounded game. Alessandro Costa has impressed me a lot in his two UFC fights, as he had some success against top contender Amir Albazi and then looked flawless against Jimmy Flick earlier this year. 

I'll take Costa as the underdog here, as he can defend Erceg's grappling and win a striking match in what should be a very close fight.

Pick: Costa O/U: Over 2.5 -156

## Tabatha Ricci +149 vs. Lupita Godinez -169

Strawweight grapplers collide here in a fun matchup. Tabatha Ricci has shown a very high-level wrestling game and submission attack, although her striking and defensive wrestling are still somewhat untested. Lupita Godinez has shown top contender potential at times with dominant wrestling and solid boxing, although she is hard to trust betting on as, at times, she doesn't take the easiest path to victory.

I'll pick Godinez here as she can use her grappling to force a striking match, which she should win comfortably, but I will not be laying this price on her.

Pick: Godinez O/U: Over 2.5 -385

## Mateusz Rebecki -667 vs. Roosevelt Roberts +520

Short notice matchup here at Lightweight. Mateusz Rebecki enters this one off a fantastic showing his last time out, where he knocked out Loik Radzhabov with a clean overhand, showing his power does translate to the UFC despite a weird debut. Roosevelt Roberts returns to the UFC here after a few solid showings on the last season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he won via quick knockout and lost a close decision to Austin Hubbard.

Rebecki should take this one and get a finish, although this price is too much for me to do anything with. 

Pick: Rebecki O/U: Under 2.5 -208

## Nazim Sadykhov -123 vs. Viacheslav Borshchev +110

Exciting Lightweights go head to head in what should be a fun battle here. Nazim Sadykhov is a guy I have backed in all of his UFC fights so far, as I really like his well-rounded offensive attack, pace, cardio, and durability. Viacheslav Borshchev is a great kickboxer with dangerous kicks, especially to the liver, although he has a clear hole in his wrestling game, as was shown in his fight against Marc Diakiese, and I am not sure he has fixed that.

I'm betting on Sadykhov again here as he hasn't let me down yet, and I see his wrestling and striking defense taking him to a decision win in a fun fight.

Pick: Sadykhov O/U: Over 2.5 +112

## Jared Gordon -192 vs. Mark Madsen +170

Lightweight veterans square off here. Jared Gordon gets to fight in his hometown here after a tough year; he has shown a good boxing attack and the ability to maintain pressure and solid grappling. Mark Madsen is a very high-level wrestler who got into MMA late and is looking to bounce back from his first loss here. 

I like Gordon to take a decision here as he can defend Madsen's wrestling attack and force a striking match where he will have a clear advantage.

Pick: Gordon O/U: Over 2.5 -303

## Kyung Ho Kang +120 vs. John Castaneda -137

Well-rounded Bantamweights will mix it up early on the card. Kyung Ho Kang has been on a good run lately, winning five of his last six fights and showing a well-rounded game in the process. John Castaneda is a fast-paced wrestler who drowns opponents with his game, although he is sometimes very willing to trade punches.

I lean toward Kang at the underdog price here as I feel he'll be able to defend the wrestling attack and land the harder strikes.

Pick: Kang O/U: Over 2.5 -263

## Joshua Van -222 vs. Kevin Borjas +195

A bout that was originally scheduled for Dana White's Contender Series now goes down in the UFC as both Flyweights found their way into the promotion. Joshua Van impressed many in his short-notice debut win over Zhalgas Zhumagulov, where the young twenty-two-year-old landed hard shots, nearly finishing the veteran. Kevin Borjas earned a contract on the contender series after surviving a grappling onslaught from his opponent to nearly finish him with nasty body work late in the final round to secure the fight and his spot in the UFC.

I'm picking Van here as I really liked what I saw from him in his debut and am excited to see what improvements he is able to make going forward.

Pick: Van O/U: Under 2.5 -102

## Dennis Buzukja +215 vs. Jamall Emmers -250

Featherweights open the card here in what should be a good one. Dennis Buzukja returns here after he took his debut on very short notice and still went the distance, showing his toughness. Jamall Emmers is a tall guy for the division, which he uses well to keep range, although he rarely pushes the pace and uses his grappling sparingly.

Emmers should win this fight, but at a price like this, I can't bet on him with how close he tends to make his fights.

UFC 295 Predictions

The 2024 calendar was kicked off by some huge announcements by Dana White. We're going to cover everything currently known about UFC 298, including the location, date, and fights on the card.

## Location and Date

UFC 298 will go down on February 17th, 2024. While not confirmed, the location is rumored to be in Los Angeles, California, which Ilia Topuria teased in his promotional trailer video.

This would mark the UFC's sixth return to Los Angeles and their first return since 2018, which was UFC 227: Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt 2. The event was a stacked card, with many fan favorites today debuting and making an early start in their career on this card, such as Zhang Weili, Marlon "Chito" Vera, and Kevin Holland. The co-main event was also the historical rematch between Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo and marked Johnson's last UFC fight before his move to ONE Championship.

## Confirmed Fights

The only confirmed fight for UFC 298 is Alexander Volkanovski vs. Ilia Topuria, which will serve as the main event. Volkanovski is coming off a loss to Islam Makhachev in the Lightweight division but is undefeated throughout his entire career at Featherweight and will be looking to make his sixth title defense. Topuria is undefeated on a fourteen-fight win streak and is challenging for UFC gold for the first time.

## Rumoured Bouts

 There are currently no rumored bouts for UFC 298.

## Betting Odds

Per BetOnline.ag, Alexander Volkanovski is a -170 favorite, pitting Ilia Topuria as a +140 underdog. This means a bettor would need to place $170 on Volkanovski for a $100 return or $100 on Topuria to win $140. This is the smallest favorite Volkanovski has been during his entire Featherweight Championship reign, and it is also the first time since Ilia Topurias UFC debut that he's the underdog.

UFC 298 Date, Location, Rumors, Confirmed Fights and Betting Odds

This weekend, the UFC will host one of the more anticipated cards of the year as it returns to Madison Square Garden, New York City. After a slight card change and reshuffle due to Jon Jones' unavailability through injury, the main event will see Alex Pereira face off against the returning Jiri Prochazka for the vacant Light Heavyweight title. In the co-main event, fighting for the Interim Heavyweight title, Tom Aspinall will be stepping in on two weeks' notice to fight Sergei Pavlovich, initially the backup fight for the previous main event fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. Elsewhere, the card is stacked with exciting fights, including Mackenzie Dern and Jessica Andrade, Matt Frevola and Benoit Saint-Davies, and Diego Lopes against Pat Sabatini.

## Diego Lopes (22-6) Vs. Pat Sabatini (18-4)

Kicking off the main card is the fast-emerging fan favorite Diego Lopes, who will compete in just his third UFC bout. In his first fight, he took on undefeated top-10-ranked opponent Movsar Evloev on short notice and performed way better than anybody had previously anticipated. Although losing the fight on all three of the judges' scorecards, Lopes certainly had his moments throughout the fight and threatened with dangerous submissions the entire time. Lopes would prove just how dangerous his submissions are in his next fight, where he submitted Gavin Tucker in the first round. His opponent this weekend, Pat Sabatini, is also known for his dangerous ground game, with 11 of his 18 wins coming via submission. Sabatini boasts an impressive record of 18-4 with a 5-1 record in the UFC. On the other hand, Lopes has a record of 22-6, with 12 of those coming by way of submission.


## Matt Frevola (11-3) Vs. Benoit Saint-Davies (12-1) 

A Dana White's Contender Series graduate in Frevola will fight under the UFC banner for the 10th time, riding a 3-fight win streak, with all three victories coming via KO or TKO in the first round. With a record of 11-3 and 7 finishes, Frevola is known for his aggressive fighting style, and this fight is set to be nothing short of a barn burner. Saint-Davies will mark his 6th appearance in the UFC on a current win streak of 4, two coming via submission and two coming via TKO. An impressive record of 12-1 (1), with all 12 coming via finish. This fight certainly has all the makings of a classic, with both men extremely dangerous from the opening bell. 


## Mackenzie Dern (13-3) Vs. Jessica Andrade (24-12)

Coming off the back of a fight of the night bonus in a Main Event victory over Angelia Hill, Dern will be looking to make it back-to-back victories against a dangerous opposition in Jessica Andrade. With multiple ju-jitsu accolades to her name, it is no surprise that 7 of her 13 victories have come by way of submission. Dern has made her title aspirations known, and a victory over a former champion could set her on her way. On the other hand, the always dangerous Andrade is currently on a 3-fight skit for the first time in her career and has been finished in all three fights. The 10-year UFC veteran does hold notable victories over names such as, Rose Namajunas, Lauren Murphy and  Angelia Hill. Andrade will look to get back into the win column this weekend and add to her 15 UFC wins.


## Sergei Pavlovich (18-1) Vs. Tom Aspinall (13-3)

The original main event backup fighter, Pavlovoch, finds himself in an interim title shot against another fast-rising star Tom Aspinall. The only blemish on Pavlovich's record came against Alistar Overeem in his UFC debut; since then, he has gone on to win his next six fights in the first round. Racking up wins over the division's best, such as Curtis Blaydes, Tai Tuivasa, and Derrick Lewis in the first round means Pavlovich has the second shortest average octagon time of any UFC athlete. The only other athlete to have a shorter UFC average octagon time is no other than his opponent this weekend. Aspinall returned in July this year after 12 months on the sideline due to a knee injury suffered in the opening seconds against Curtis Blaydes. With six victories in the UFC already, Aspinall will be looking to cash in on his short-notice opportunity. With two fighters colliding who rarely see a second round, this fight has everything you'd expect to be fireworks from the opening bell. 


## Jiri Prochazka (29-3) Vs. Alex Pereria (8-2)

The card's new main event will see one of the year's most anticipated fights. Prochazka is returning from an extended period out of action, returning from what Dana White called 'the worst shoulder injury' he'd ever seen; there will undoubtedly be some questions and marks regarding the injury. That being said, Prochazka is currently riding a 13-fight win streak, finishing all his opponents. With 29 victories to his name, Prochazka has only gone to a decision once in his career. Standing opposite him will be Alex Pereria, attempting to become a two-division world champion in just his 7th fight in the UFC and his 11th professional fight. Known for his deadly left hook and incredible kickboxing abilities, the fans expect nothing but violence when these two goliaths meet.

UFC 295 Preview

A massive top-10 Flyweight rematch has just been announced. Matheus Nicolau will fight Manel Kape on January 13th, 2024, at UFC Fight Night 234 inside the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada, per Marcel Dorff.

**This bout takes place in the Flyweight (125 lbs) division.**

Matheus Nicolau is ranked #6 in the Flyweight division and holds a professional record of 19-3-1 (7-2 UFC), with credible wins over Manel Kape, Matt Schnell, and Tim Elliott.

Manel Kape holds a professional record of 19-6 (4-2 UFC) and is ranked #8 in the Flyweight division. He holds notable victories over Ode Osbourne, David Dvořák, and Felipe dos Santos.

**Official odds have yet to be released.**

Matheus Nicolau is coming off a crucial loss to Brandon Royval. The Brazillian was caught early in the fight with a knee, leading to his first loss since 2018. The fight was an unofficial title eliminator, so with that victory, Nicolau would've been fighting for a title next. Instead, he draws Manel Kape, who he defeated in 2021 via a razor-thin split decision, with fans torn on who the actual winner should've been. He now has the opportunity to get a statement win over Kape and draw a top-5 opponent next.

Kape has a rough start in the UFC, but now, the losses have aged like a fine win. "Starboy" lost his debut in 2021 to the now Flyweight Champion Alexandre Pantoja via decision and then lost his next matchup by split decision to Nicolau, which many fans believed should've gone his way. But since then, he's won four straight with two finishes. His last fight was a Fight of The Night war against Felipe Dos Santos, where Kape showcased his technical striking and evasion skills, making Dos Santos miss over 2/3rds of his punches. Now, he looks to get a big win over Nicolau and march into the top-5 of the Flyweight rankings.
