A bout between top-10 Heavyweights Tom Aspinall and Marcin Tybura has just been announced as the headliner for the UFC's return to London, England, on July 22, inside the 02 Arena, per Dana White.
This five-round main event occurs in the Heavyweight (265 lbs) division.
Tom Aspinall holds a professional record of 12-3 (5-1 UFC) and is ranked #5 in the Heavyweight division. He holds notable wins over Alexander Volkov, Serghei Spivac, and Andrei Arlovski.
Marcin Tybura is ranked #10 at Heavyweight and holds a professional record of 24-7 (11-6 UFC), with credible wins against Alexandr Romanov, Blagoy Ivanov, and Greg Hardy.
Official odds have yet to be released.
Tom Aspinall will be looking to rebound from his horrific knee injury against Curtis Blaydes in his last outing. Just fifteen seconds into the bout, Aspinall landed a leg kick and awkwardly stepped back on his leg, causing his MCL and suffering a torn meniscus and damaged ACL. Despite this loss, Aspinall has looked virtually unbeatable in the UFC, sporting five victories, all coming via finish before the third round. He'll be looking to use his sharp striking accompanied by his Aspinall BJJ to secure the victory in his hometown.
Marcin Tybura is currently riding a two-fight win streak against some of the biggest names of his career. In his last outing, he secured a unanimous decision against fellow veteran Blagoy Ivanov, and before that, he overcame considerable odds to secure a majority decision against Alexander Romanov. Tybura is a well-rounded heavyweight with great striking and wrestling, and he'll be looking to use all these tools to upset the odds against Aspinall in London.
This is a brilliant comeback fight for Aspinall, but Tybura will be looking to play spoiler for the return. Who do you have winning? As a member of the Verdict Community, let us know your prediction in the comments below.
